My partner and i stayed as a valentine treat on feb 15th. The location was so central in the heart of Stellenbosch. Our room was on the ground floor with its own terrace. the room itself was huge as was the bathroom and there were lovehearts hanging all around. There was even some complimentary Sherry. Suzaan and the others were so helpful in making suggestions for dining etc. The pool was small but quiet and a welcome activity on a day where the temp was 34o! When we came back from dinner the bed was turned down and there was fresh lavender all over the room. We had an amzaing breakfast before heading home. We can't wait to go back

The staff here were welcoming and helpful. Attention to detail was obvious - home made biscuits, cupcakes, lemonade, sherry decanters and a proper coffee filter! Breakfasts were outstanding and the pool area was restful. Secure car parking was a bonus and the hotel is very central - no problems walking out at night to one of the many excellent restaurants in Stellenbosch.

This hotel was one of the best we stayed at in our 3 weeks travelling around South Africa.
We walked in and luckily 2 nights were available.
We were given an excellent rate and loved every minute.
The rooms are beautifully decorated and have everything you could wish for. Mini bar, water and chocs each night. Fresh towels, bath robes, large flat screen tv, tea coffee, sherry and biscuits. Pool area with towels and changing room/toilets. Fantastic breakfast, staff extremely friendly and helpful with booking anything you may be interested in like restaurants, trips etc.
The highlight of the stay apart from all this has to be location. We did not have to use the car once, you walk out of the hotel straight into town. At check out we were told they had had a cancellation so we took it for an extra night.
Don't waste your money anywhere else.

We stayed here for two nights at the end of our stay in SA. Our room was beautifully decorated with a mixture of period furniture and bits of modern gadgetry and everywhere there were nice touches, such as bathrobes and little chocolates placed on the bed when we got in at night. It's very centrally located on a side street just off Dorp Street and we would have given the location an "excellent" rating but for the fact that, on the first night, we kept being hassled by a couple of tramps who were sleeping rough outside a neighbouring building - not threatening, just annoying. The hotel does have secure parking for cars and, as a bonus, a quiet little pool and sunbathing area if you get tired of all that wine-tasting.

Breakfasts are very well done, again with charming little touches, and we were very taken with the helpfulness of the people who run it. They sorted out wine-tasting outings for us and it was typical of their generosity of spirit that, on our last day, when we were due to catch a return flight late in the evening, they allowed us the use of an empty room to shower and change in before setting off for the airport at no extra charge. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

As I sit here on our last day in my plush robe furnished by the hotel, using my laptop with a STRONG signal, I marvel at what a fabulous 5 days we've had here. The Batavia Boutique Hotel (only 9 rooms which I love) has been marvelous. Although I really wanted to be able to open doors and windows. the air conditioning was a nice treat as it's hot here. This hotel has everything, fantastic bathroom area (love the tub especially), comfortable beds with luxury linen and pillows, coffee making facility with real coffee and a french press, nummy breakfast and more. The staff went above and beyond (including a bottle of champagne at breakfast for my husband's 60th birthday) to picking up a pizza and salad to eat around the pool, to making golf tee times and more. I love the location and being able to walk to shops and restaurants as well as the grocery store. You can have a cupcake at midnight if you want.
