“There is no better way to do business”
Reviewed June 12, 2009

I had my team out here for a 2 day off site strategy meeting. I must say this was the best idea my office ever came up with. Everybody enjoyed the facilities, which were just perfect for our group. And the fact that we lived on one of the best gourmet places in the country combined the work part of our stay with great fun.
Beside the fact that we had a very successful meeting with great results, we all go back with the intention to spend more time at this paradise like place in the summer.
The hotels staff is exceptional friendly and they red from our faces what we needed and served us before we knew. The meals were delicious and in the evening we had a chance to taste the wonderful wines of the estate.
If business can be like this all the times, the world economy would do much better! It was only sad that we could not use all the amenities that this place offers.

This was our 5th stay at the lodge and we always enjoyed it. The location is perfect for golfer and wine lover and for us who like great food and wine it is like "Schlaraffenland". We tried several of the superior rooms and like them all. This time we got an upgrade to a suite which was of course the top experience. The staff is very friendly and looking after us with great care, there are always recommendations at hand if the weather turns out to be different than hoped for and the good relationship they have with the golf club allowed us to get a booking even on a short notice.

I stayed at the Lodge after finding it on the internet; I stayed on a Sunday after arriving from the UK prior to a business trip around Cape Town. The reception was pleasant, though the room wasn't ready (but I did arrive at 11.30 am). I did get in around 12 noon; the room was pleasant enough, with a modest balcony which did have a great view. The swimming pool has a marvellous location and view of the mountains, but it is not heated. The is a top-notch restaurant onsite (Terroir) but it is closed Sunday evenings. I had an excellent lite lunch there. KZ overlooks a golf course which they can book for you. They provide meals at their own modest restaurant, where I ate Sun niight and Monday morning before leaving. The vineyard provides wine-tasting for a modest charge, and the wine is excellent!

Close to main road and town. Standard room is very basic with view of vineyard. It was unfortunate that the hotel had no electricity when we arrived and it wasn't restored until late at night so we had little opportunity to use any of the facilities. Apparently this is not an isolated incident and the hotel caters for it by providing a single candle and box of matches.

Fantastic luxury suite overlooking the golf course and terrific mountain views. Excellent VFM. Can't believe the negative reviews this has had, of course if you go for a standard room you get what you pay for. Book ahead and spend a little more and you will have a terrfic stay.

  • Liked — Warm welcome from Nikki, fabulous food at Terroir restaurant; great wines; excellent golf rates
  • Disliked — Limited internet access

This was our second stop on a recent golf trip to South Africa. We stayed here in order to play at De Zalze golf. We had a standard room which was nice without being anything special. But once again the staff were very helpful and took care of anything that we needed. The only thing downside was that we ate in the resort restaurant on the second night as the Terroir restaurant was full and the service was very slow, even though we were the only ones there! For the golfers the course starts off well for 3 holes then gets a little ordinary, until you get into the back 9.

The website offers 47 luxurious lodges and we expected something special - what we got was a box room. We complained to the receptionist and she was quite offhand and basically told us we got what we paid for. £94 to stay in a broom cupboard - I don't think so!
There has also been a lot of building work going on for the golf course so it's like staying in the middle of a suburban housing estate.
Breakfast was also very sparse. The only thing good about our stay was the complimentary bottle of wine they gave us.

  • Liked — Nothing
  • Disliked — Poor value for money. Also very noisy
