We got married at Morgenhof on the 20th of March. It's a stunning venue with beautiful scenery and mountains - one of my favourite in Stellenbosch. Naomi was very helpful and provided us with answers to all our questions. I felt she had everything under her control, which was reassuring. (I feel I need to mention that Nadia was also very helpful, but left Morgenhof just before our wedding date). Our day was perfect, everything went according to plan, however the food was very disappointing to say the least. In fact, as the bridal couple we felt rather embarrassed to serve food like that to our guests. The starter was lovely, but the main course was well below average. We've eaten at Morgenhof on numerous occasions in the past, and the food has always been good so we were really positive about the menu. We chose the buffet menu with roast leg of lamb,Mediterranean veg, roast potatoes, line fish, salad and beans. The roast leg of lamb looked nothing like a roast - in fact it looked like some form of lamb chops, only not even as nice! It was tough, and tasteless. The roast potatoes ended up being boiled baby potatoes with parsley butter, the "Mediterranean veg" was simply mixed frozen veg, and the salad was crunchy with sand as the lettuce had not been rinsed properly. But the fish was good....or so say our guests! Only our close family and friends were honest enough with us about the food (while being apologetic about the negative feedback they were giving). I reported this feedback to Morgenhof in as nice a way as possible - I only hope they'll actually investigate as they said they would since it's a beautiful venue. Whether they actually do something remains to be seen. The only reason I would still recommend this venue is because it's in such a beautful location and the scenery is breath taking. I guess it depends what's important to you on your wedding day - if it were up to my husband he would vote against my rating and recommendation.
