We had received a glowing recommendation of this venue and had booked in advance. I tried to book our picnic in the 'Penthouse' but this was not available so we settled for the 'Forest Courtyard' - big mistake. The picnic wasn't bad value but was spoilt by an invasion of flies - now this could be excused as it was summer and it was Africa and flies do occur. However, closer inspection revealed that the flies were migrating from piles of nearby dog excrement that had been allowed to remain! There was also a constant noise of traffic which spoilt the rural effect as the estate is close to the main road and in fact the traffic is visible from 'The Lawns & the 'Pods'. The childrens' play area is between the lawns and the forest courtyard, so if you don't wish to be troubled by the noise and sight of children playing and shouting, then I advise not to book either of these two areas.
