Owner description: Spier is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa, with a recorded history dating back to 1692. Spier's winery has won multiple awards in recent years, including Producer of the Year (Mundus Vini, Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show 2011). We also performed exceptionally at the 2011 International Wine and Spirits Competition (five Best in Class Gold medals and two trophies), and were the top performing SA winery at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles for three consecutive years. The Spier cellar has ISO 22000 certification, is Fair Trade accredited, organically certified and follows the Integrated Production of Wine (IPW) criteria.

You're in the winelands; you've been having those wonderful food and wine experiences but you want something simple in between. Eight restaurant at Spier is just the thing: fresh local produce simply but deliciously prepared; great wine to accompany it all; lovely surroundings -- try biking to it. Don't miss out just because his place caters to big crowds -- the grounds can handle all those people and you'll enjoy it.

This is the 6th time we have visited SPIER Wine Estate over the years and we were slightly disappointed at the changes, No shop and no Cheetah experience - apparently the cats and the Anatolian sheepdogs have all been moved to "better" premises in Somerset West!! There were endless rows of eclectic craft displays and a new wine tasting experience for experts. There is a new concept of fresh farm house food which is selected from an enormous display and then weighed for your consumption - absolutely delicious!! The scenery around the lake is still beautiful and the surroundings are very inviting for picnics on the lawn - must be bought on site though - no self catering or you will be fined!!

Good day,
Thank you for the years of support, we appreciate all the times you have seen our business grow and develop, unfortunately the cheetahs have moved to a bigger property as the amount of cheetahs had increased radically in the last few years and they out grew the space here at Spier.
I’m so glad you enjoyed our new outlets, as we pride ourselves in delivering only the best produce, wine, service and atmosphere.
We look forward in hosting you soon
Kindest regards

Whether you are a wine fan or not - Spier is one of the most scenic spots among the wine farms. I simply sat down by the dam and watched the ducks. I didn't need more than that.

It is excellently kept, buildings are beautiful and staff are super friendly.

We visited Spier and had a lovely picnic in the beautiful gardens. You can relax and enjoy the tasty food and great wine while your children play on the lawn.
