We visit the pork butchery and shop on a frequent basis. The fresh pork meat is always of a great quality.

Occasionally we treat ourselves to the rustic Croque monsieur sandwich. I can definitely recommend it, but be aware that it is a big serving. Fresh farm baked bread with ham and generous helping of melted cheese on top, complimented by potato wedges, go well together. We haven't tried anything else on the menu as we love the sandwich.

I note some negative comments about the service, but the management must have addressed this as we found the service friendly and efficient.

Stopped at Joostenberg Bistro for lunch - en route between Durbanville and Stellenbosch. Got showed to a table with a lovely view over the garden, received menus and then waited and waited and waited to be served. Had to eventually called a waitress over to ask if she would be prepared to take our order. (During the time there, I noticed that more patrons had to get up and call a waitress in order to be served.) After receiving our lunch, there was no "checking in" with us to find out if everything was OK. Again, a waitress had to be called over when I missed something. The same was when we were ready to leave - waiting for the bill.
The clearing of tables were also very slow - and new patrons had to clear the table - while the waitresses would stand and stare into mid-air.
The food however was good. And was good value for money.
The setting is lovely
Pity about the service.

Farm atmosphere, great for kids but the food is tasteless and the servings huge. The only thing that saves the day is their shop where you can find great breads, pastry and pies.

We popped into the bistro, not the restaurant and found some wonderful breads, muffins and treats. There were also cheeses, cold meats, jams & preserves, olives and a wide range of yummy picnic goodies. Even home cooked meals and deserts. Even the kids found something good to munch on. We sat on the lawn and the kids played on the jungle gyms and even went on a horse & cart ride. So peaceful and just a short drive out from where we live. Definitely going to be going again soon! The deli is open 7 days a week from 07h30-18h00

Great place for breakfast with a fine accompanying deli. The deli has a wide variety of pork products that I have not seen elsewhere. Terrific fire place. Friendly wait staff. Food served fresh and hot. Worth a visit.
