“great staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2012

We arrived here for 3 nights as part of an escourted tour the weather was atrocious stair rods, the staff were out with umbrellas to escourt us into reception. Once allocated a room which ment going outside again we found the route under 6 inches of water we refused to to go through the water and returned to reception after an apology we were given tea and cakes. After some time they took us back to the rooms to show the water had been cleared, rooms were excellent, we also received a complimentary bottle of wine from the local vineyard.
The food was excellent and as indicated before the staff fell over backwards to be helpful

Dear scrumhalfRedditch

Many thanks for your review. You certainly did not arrive in pleasant weather. It was the first time in ten years of current ownership that it rained so hard we had flooding!

We are delighted you enjoyed the stay and that the weatehr imprved for you.

We were very well looked after and loved the setting amongst the vineyards and overlooking the beautiful valleys. The wines were delicious! Our room was very comfortable. the dining room was lovely and was very impressive to enter. The staff were very helpful and didn't mind recommending a where to go drive, to experience other wineries.
I would definately pass on to others.

Excellent accomodation, we thoroughly enjoyed a two night stay at Devon Valley while attending a wedding in the area.Modern and luxurious bedroom and bathroom overlooking the vineyards, gorgeous view, loved the way the bathroom opened up into the bedroom by pushing open the sliding doors.Staff were very firendly and helpful and the food at the Flavours restaurant I can highly recommend, we enjoyed a splendid evening meal there and the breakfasts were first class too.Located near Stellenbosch and not far from Franschoek, all in all an excellent stay and I am planning to return in December and send my folks there next year....

Room Tip: Aks for luxurious vineyard facing room preferably at the end and upstairs

I stayed here two nights during a tour of South Africa. The tour company certainly found a gem of a hotel in the Devon Valley. I had a huge room with a king size bed, large flat screen tv and there was even doors you could push back to open up the toilet. The toilet was huge. I have to say it was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Lovely view across the hills from the window and I noticed some of our group even had small patio areas.

The hotel food was very good and you can arrange wine (or whisky) tasting in the bar area. The grounds of the hotel were really nice with lots of colour.

Would definately recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Stellenbosh area. The views from the grounds are magnificent.

Lucky enough to be taken out to lunch on Sunday and what a surprise!
Beautifully laid table, Charming service and an excellent Buffet lunch.
We were welcomed with a complimentary glass of Rose wine or fruit juice,
The dining Room looked most attractive and a painist provided the background music.
The meal was excellent, desserts to die for.Good value for money, avenue yo be repeated.

Many thanks for your review on our Sunday Lunch.

Patrick the chef on duty has over 25 years of service with us. He prides himself on his Sunday lunch.

You should also give our Friday and Saturday evening (12:00 – 21:00) pizzas a try. Served weather permitting on our terrace. Aimed at both our hotel guests and friends from our local areas.

Look forward to seeing you again.

Stayed at Devon Valley for 2 nights before heading to Cape Town and I must concur with the other reports, the location is very scenic located about 5 minutes from Stellenbosch, our room had stunning views across the mountains, it was very clean and tidy and Jaco and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and eager to please. The restaurant food was of a high standard with excellent breakfast.
They have an extensive wine list but some of the best are from their own Sylvan Vale. Highly recommended.
