“Fabulous hotel!!”
Reviewed October 5, 2011

Just to back up other reviews - this is a wonderful hotel. The rooms are luxurious, bright and spotless - we especially liked the verandah outside the room overlooking the lovely gardens and the large roll top bath. The evening meal (both food and wine) was excellent and exceptional value for money - my steak was divine! Enjoyed the early evening wine tasting session - again great value for money. Our only minor criticism and it is minor, there was no 'live' cooking at breakfast.
We loved this hotel!

This place is stunnning both inside and out!

The hotel on arrival had a welcome drink of their own rose wine (lush!) for us. We were then shown to our room. The room was perfect. Twin room with flat screen tv, tea/coffee, hairdryer, dim lighting, very very comfortable beds, roll top bath, shower, plenty of toiletries. It was the ultimate stylish room tastefully decorated and lovely touches with turndown service at night and a little biscotti left beside the tea/coffee each night.

Helpful hints left on the bed of the weather for the next day and free internet really sets this hotel apart from the larger chains of hotels.

As for the restaurant - it was the best meal we had in South Africa and the service was second to none. The wine and food were cooked to a very high standard and the variety was brilliant. I cannot praise this hotel and staff enough.

We will definitely be back! Thanks Devon Valley for an amazing stay.

Gourgeous place to stay in Stellenbosch. Ask for the Vineyard Room with a beautiful decoration and a private patio with a great view of the valley.

Room Tip: Ask for the Vineyard Room, they are new and have a private patio with great view of the valley.

Amazing views - and nice local walks/runs

Food and service was fine

Meals and drinks on terrace are very special - TV in bar is left on too much (very low brow)!

Bedrooms in the new part are better - if on 1st (upper floor) then the french doors can be left open and provide a great view

We stayed at Devon valley hotel for 5 nights for a wedding at Hidden valley wine farm. Our room was beautiful and definitely 5 star. Breakfast was amazing and the restaurant was very nice and good value for money. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Loved this hotel and could have stayed a lot longer!! Note there are quite a few different types of room... My tip would be to go for one in the new wing, number 34 upward and with a patio

We stayed here with our 10month old baby and felt very relaxed and at home. Our room (in the new block), was beautifully appointed and the bed was extremely comfortable. There was a cot set up for the little one and housekeeping did a fantastic job cleaning up his mess.
Breakfasts were a delight, and every assistance was offered with the baby - a babyseat at the table, preparation of breakfast for him, and plenty of cuddles and smiles from the staff.
In particular, Ana in housekeeping was a favourite friend of Charlie's!
The grounds of the house are beautiful - gorgeous gardens and spectacular views.
It is well situated for visiting the amazing wineries in the area and we would definitely return to this hotel when we're back in SA.
Thanks to all the staff at Devon Valley for making the start of our SA trip so enjoyable.
