“The spier, a place to stay”

It's an amazing property. Lot's of things to do within the property and in the sorrundings. The room has a lovely fireplace that's perfect for winter time. Very close to the best wineries of the stellenbosch area and to the downtown. You need a car to come to this places but if you get one the sky is limit in visiting wineries.
The property has different restaurant, I went to the buffet one were they serve real african cuisine.

Room Tip: If you come in summer ask for a room with terrace!

We had the most remarkable experience and excellent hospitality. From Wine on Arrival, to being transported by Golf Cart with our lovely driver singing the way to our rooms. He then explained everything we needed to know in detail and made sure we were comfortable. We had the pleasure of visiting the Wine Farms on Segway, and feeding at the Eagle Encounter. Food at the Spier Restaurant was divine and the Wine Tasting definitely a steal of the show. Management & staff took utmost care in ensuring our stay was nothing less than perfect. Thank you to Gallo Shanker & his Team.

Room Tip: Garden Terrace Rooms...Lovely and Spacious!

Awesome hotel. Make sure you cross the river to enjoy the Protea garden on the other side. The room was also awesome and traditionally decorated. Take enough time to explore the grounds. There is also opportunity for wine tasting, and take note of the bottle-structured light in this building. There is quite a number of African art along the grounds to see and enjoy. the food was OK but not great. The setting however is something special and the friendliness of the staff is also something to note. O and you can pick olives from the trees between the rooms. Really nice stay and awesome pictures.

The room was beautiful, so were the people, and the location was loaded with positive energy. This is how a business trip ended up feeling like vacation.

The food was nothing special, but I didn't think South African food was very good altogether, so that was OK.

Thinking back of this place, it becomes clear to me that friendly staff in a healthy working atmosphere is probably one of the most important factors to make your stay a pleasant one.

Unfortunately, we only had one night to experience this hotel.

Its location, concept, design and collection of artwork is outstanding.

We found the service very attentive and welcoming

The only thing that slightly detracted from our experience was that the maintenance / upkeep of the well appointed rooms was less than what you would expect in a hotel which has obviously spent a lot of time and effort in creating a very impressive atmosphere around the development.

Room Tip: The rooms are located in a town house format. I would recommend the upper rooms as these have open f...

Despite being the quiet season this wine lodge offers plenty for a weekend break. From Segway Tours of the farms to dining at the accredited Moyo restaurant on site this hotel provides a relaxing get away centred around some of the best wines Stellenbosch has to offer.

Room Tip: Rooms in block 5 and 6 are a fair walk from the other hotel facilities.

Dear Drlbla

We thank you for your recent review and positive comments. Spier offers many activities on the farm to occupy our guests time, and I see you enjoyed making use of most of them.

In addition to the activities we are very proud of our award winning wines, and the Spier Hotel is the home of these wines.

You mentioned that the 500 and 600 block are far from reception, this is true but please remember that we have the shuttle service provide by the porters to ferry guests between the rooms and the public spaces.

Yours in hospitality

An experience to share with others. friendly staff , From reception we were checked in by friendly efficient staff even though we got there quite late. We were taken to our rooms by golfcart and waited for us to unlock our rooms before leaving. Rooms are spacious clean and space is so important when you live in teh city. Location great , you out in teh country side with fresh air and still close o the city. Food excellent.
