“One small thing..”
Reviewed June 22, 2013 via mobile

I love this deli-type restaurant and always refer my clients to come here. The food is delicious, the service (from all staff) super friendly and helpful. We had a lovely lunch there yesterday, bought some interesting wines and cheese from Ruaan, but was disappointed when we the restaurant did not accept American Express credit cards for payment.

Since I am in the Tourism Industry myself I feel it is so important to accept payment with all kinds of credit cards. I believe that with todays economy we must make it easy for our customers to do business with us.. and accepting all forms of payment is one way of doing that. I really hope that the owners of Wild Peacock will look into this matter and ensure that a wonderful experience does not end with one leaving the restaurant feeling disappointed..

Dear Rene0705
Thank you very much for visiting the Wild Peacock on the 23rd June. and the problem you experienced with us not accepting American Express.
I shall look at this option again as a facility to offer clients.
I have no objection to allowing the use of this credit card at the Wild Peacock at all, the only reason we have not gone with this card is the rediculous charges this organisation charge us every time the card is used to pay for the items or meal purchased. It is more than double whateverone of the other cards charges!!
We try extremely hard to price all our items and dishes at really attractive prices as that is what we believe in so would like to support those credit cards that encourage this as well, unfortunately this is not the case with American Express.
Having said that I shall look at it again.
Please pop in and test thge outcome in the near future.
Kind
regards
The Wild Peacock.

“Standards Maintained!”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

Our first lunch time visit to Wild Peacock, and again, a great experience! Relaxed, informal, good food, knowledgeable waiter, and especially great value with their 2-for-1 winter special!
With a patio heater, and blankets available (though not needed today), it is great to sit outside on the pavement, and soak up the cafe culture.
We will be back! Thanks to Andrew and Sue Baker for a most enjoyable 5 hour lunch!!!

“Small but well worth a visit. Try the beers!”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

We have eaten there several lunch times. The menu is on a blackboard, so small choice but always interesting. You can also buy items to eat from their delicatessen. The food is excellent. There is a very extensive wine-list and also lots of choices of beer, Belgian and local micro breweries included. Very friendly staff.
Sitting outside close to traffic is a bit noisy but has not bothered us. You can of course sit inside too..
The owners do distribute oysters around the area but not tried by us.

“Oyster Heaven!”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

As distributors of oysters to the trade, the Bakers know what they are doing! We arrived on a cold wet night last year, and the only table available was in the adjoining wine shop! It was like dining in our own private cellar! Evenings are limited to a smaller menu, offering a choice of 3 starters, mains and desserts, though the choice is wider at lunch times.
Enjoy the aromas of the wonderful deli produce also sold, the wine shop with very reasonable prices, (try Andrew Baker's own Pinot Noir!).
We will pick a warmer, drier evening next time, because we will certainly be back!

“Feast!”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

Of all places to try a muscle pot was Stellenbosch!!
I asked for the half portion R45 00
There must have been at least 25 tasty muscles served in a wine onion sauce with real mayo and a cup of chips!
There were so many I thought I had been mistakenly given a full portion!
You can try hundreds of different wines by the glass which was heaven!

They have loads of deli take away foods ...all too tempting!!
Definitely make time for this spot when visiting the Cape.
