Food quality is very good, but I feel a bit over worked and complicated for the type of place.
The menu was definitely their winter menu as it was very rich.

I am sure there will be something new for summer.

Service was a bit slow, but friendly.

Will definitely return.

This had been our 5th visit, not including a brunch. While the food was still basically ok, it was no longer to the standard we have come to expect from this otherwise first class venue. We were once again with friends and had the opportunity to share some of their dishes as well.
One of our favourites, the beef carpaccio with a very subtle sauce and deep fried capers was no longer up to the previous occasions. The duck main course and the pork belly were ok, but no longer strikingly well done. Whereas the fish of the day was very disappointing and not fresh enough to be deserving that description. We've been used to better experiences at Long Table before. And this included the waiting staff. While their attire was new, their attention was not great though the restaurant was not over crowded. Perhaps this is the result of a long drawn out and cold winter. We'll try again some time but are no longer filled with the same unreserved enthusiasm which we brought to our previous experiences.

Truly the most awesome meal and wine. The restaurant was warm and inviting, the menu adventurous and the staff attentive. My husband had Charlay sirloin steak with a fabulous little oxtail crouton (an oxtail meatball) - delicious, succulent and very satisfying! I had the Venison with blackcurrant and blackberry sauce - the venison was served in rare medallions of melting tenderness. We indulged in sharing a pud - pecan praline cheesecake - too delicious for words! And the meal was rounded off with a bottle of Dombeya 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon - this will certainly become a feature on our table in the future! The view of the vineyards from the terrace are stunning. I'm definitely going back!

Nestled at the edge of a vineyard, with mountains framing this picture, is the Long Table Restaurant on the Haskell Wine Estate. This is truly a hidden gem. This time, we had breakfast - it was a beautiful morning and we sat outside under the trees. I chose the Mexican breakfast - what a delight! A tortilla filled with tomato, onion, chilli, bacon and eggs. My partner had Eggs Benedict - perfectly cooked! The lunch menu looked scrumptious - value for money and an excellent selection. Wine tasting room adjacent to the restaurant where one can taste the wine before ordering. This restaurant is highly recommended for breakfast and lunch. The perfect way to enjoy the Cape winelands.
