From the Rabbit and eisbein terrine starter, Red roman line fish main and chocolate fondant dessert, everything was great. Great waiter. Will go in summer again to enjoy the view towards Cape Town.

We waited three years to be in South Africa when the restaurants at Longridge Winery and Hidden Valley Winery, Overture, would be open after their winter break so that we could eat in them. It turned out that this year we were in South Africa for the beginning of August and both were open. We made reservations for both restaurants on back to back nights months before we left the USA. The only way I know to review both restaurants faithfully is by reviewing the two experiences together. First we showed up early to Longridge to taste wine in the afternoon before dinner. We were greeted as we walked through the dining room on the way to tasting and when we said we would be eating later that night, the hostess said “Oh, you must be the Bowdeys”, we felt welcome and special. The next night when we arrived at Overture we had the distinct impression that the staff thought we were lucky to be fortunate enough to eat at Overture. We constantly felt like we should be thanking them for allowing us the privilege of being there. The food at both restaurants is amazing, wonderful, delicious, all those things you expect at a fine restaurant. The food at Overture is a level up, over the top combinations of flavors and wonderfully exotic dishes, a foodies dream. The atmosphere at the two restaurants is totally different: Longridge is softly lit, romantic, warmly decorated in woods and leather, Overture is chrome, glass and bright commercial lighting. To be fair, eating outside at Overture would be way more romantic with softer lights and beautiful views, but they should apologize when weather forces patrons inside. The wine at both wineries is good, we have been drinking both for years, Longridge restaurant may have the edge however since their wine list included wines from the library and we drank a 2007 Pinotage, whereas Overture had only the recently released 2013 Pinotage on their wine list. There were older non Hidden Valley wines on the list if we had chosen to drink them. So we liked both restaurants for different reasons and will return to Longridge when we get a chance.

We had a lovely dinner, food was great (we had springbok, duck and lamb) and finished with reconstructed milk tart and yummy bread and butter dessert. Beautiful view towards Cape Town and cozy fireplace for chilly winter evenings. Will definitely visit during the summer to sit outside on the large patio watching sunset!

We recently had lunch at Longridge restaurant and it was a great experience. The atmosphere is very nice and even though it was a cold, rainy day the fireplace created the perfect mood. The view from there is stunning and I can imagine it is even better on clear day. The food was delicious. I would definitely recommend the chicken curry and the bread and butter pudding although I'm sure everything on the menu is good. Longridge was a pleasant surprise and we will definitely go back.

This is a very nice restaurant located on a wine estate between Stellenbosch and Somerset West on the R44. In summer they have a lovely outside area where the views towards Cape Town and Table Mountain are wonderful. Inside the restaurant is well laid out and cozy in winter. Excellent menu to suit all tastes with a scaled down lunch menu on offer which I find is good value for those people who don't want to eat loads of food at lunch time.
