The location is stunning - about a 15 minute drive from Stellenbosch. I stayed in the Manor House, a beautiful thatched house, stylishly comfortable, with stunning view of the surrounding vineyards and mountains beyond. The staff were friendly and couldn't have been more helpful.

We visited the wine lodge during the winter season so it was very quiet. The rooms were really spacious, clean and well decorated. Perfect location for wine tasting and easy to access from Cape Town. Breakfast was simple, but tasty and in a lovely lake side location. Only downside was lack of a terrace - but in summer you could happily sit in the communeral areas and garden. Definitely worth a visit, great value for money ,friendly staff and a really cute dog.

My partner and I spent am wonderful week here in January of this year. It is the perfect blend of relaxed charm and a stunningly beautiful setting. We stayed in the pool house which was so cost and what a way to wake up with table mountain in the distance, a pool outside your door and vineyards to stroll through. We enjoyed a braai or BBQ as we call it one evening outside the pool house and just sipped our way through the evening with one of the Marianne wines and enjoyed watching the day's sun come to an amazing setting. Unforgettable. The manager Alex and his lovely wife Lana were the most charming and hospitable couple, clearing loving what they do. We enjoyed their hospitality and tips on how to get the most out of our days there.

Breakfasts in Olivello are memorable. Situated beside a natural lake and surrounded by mature vegetation it isnthe perfect place to awaken your senses with a coffee or rooibosch tea.

If I had my time again, I wouldn't change a thing.

We stayed at Marianne Wine Estate on the last night of our 2 week trip to South Africa. The setting on this estate is incredible. We stayed in one of the loft apartments. Really spotless room with neutral, crisp bedding.

It is boiling hot this time of the year but the room has aircon which is a big plus.

We got a hearty welcome from staff and we were offered complimentary wine and an invitation to dinner at the estate restaurant. We saw the most spectacular sunset from the farm. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it.

We really enjoyed being greeted by merry workers on their way to harvest grapes in the morning. It is quite something staying on a real, working wine farm. We really felt part of the process and we sensed the buzz and energy that hung in the air during harvest time.

Our favourite wine was Merlot and the Rose.

We would definitely visit this farm again and will recommend it to our friends who are thinking of visiting the country too.

Ask Alex the host to tell his gorilla joke....

Room Tip: The Loft apartments are great value and the bedding super luxurious.
