“Italian in Stellebosch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2012

The Dalla Cia's have created a most fantastic little spot of Italy in Stellenboach. Elena's cooking is incredible and George and Giorgio's wine and grappa are great.

“Everything but dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2012

I simply don't recall how many truly great meals we have had, or how many delighted friends we have introduced to this off the beaten track " Italian restaurant" in Stellenbosch.
Today marked our first visit after their short winter closure, as we were returning to the Cape. The menu was as usually varied and consisted of daily specials which owner Elena adjusts according to the season. Our Crespelle starter was a mouth watering affair with a light creamy topping over
her ricotta/spinach filling which is always of such a high standard. Both mains of Veal Porcini and Spaghetti Carbonara were very good and the desert of Torta Caprese an appropriate ending of another outstanding meal. The 2012 DallaCia Sauvignon Blanc was a great accompaniment to our meal and as far as we were concerned better than the prior vintage.
While the atmosphere at Pane e Vino is comfortable at any season, summer, when the doors and windows can be opened is clearly better in this industrial/residential area just outside of town. The only way we were able to have dinner was by reserving the whole restaurant for the evening, but as long as the lunches, which are incidentally served until late in the afternoon,
continue to be of such a high standard, we'll gladly get by. Please bring time and linger, as the service
by the staff is truly good and totally unobtrusive.

“Best bread in town”

great atmosphere and lovely restaurant/coffee place. Good food and they make the best bread in town on the premises. Take some home. Many locals order it by phone.

“Great Italian food in a great city called Stellenbosch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 29, 2012

We absolutely always enjoy our lunch or coffee and desserts at Pane e Vino, lovely italian food made with passion! The atmosphere is also very nice in winter with a warm fireplace, in summer with aircon and when the weather is just perfect we also like to have a seat out side!
Staff helpful and the owner Elena is always so kind! It is also the right place for some delicious Dalla Cia wine tasting and Grappa too!!
We highly recommend it and as we live in Stellenbosch luckily we can go often there!
Buon appetito!

“Italian in the Cape!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2011

Delicious food, lovely people serving, you get at the sense of Italian family business translocated to Southern Africa. Having pioneered Grappa production in the region, moving on to great Olive oil, they now serve great meals too. We loved the gnocchi with spinach and semifreddo co' zabbaione.
