“Superb indian cuisine”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

Very good tasty food. Spicy but not overly so. Wonderful service. Good but very expensive wine list. Nothing under R150. ,most well over R200. Be good to have some locally produced good value wines on your list. Food and dessert were good.

From time of order to prepared food on a plate and served - probably 7 minutes....I am convinced I heard a microwave pinging in the distance! At those prices I at least expect fresh, decently prepared food

Best Indian food you are likely to find but they are steadily losing the plot. Been to all three branches in Cape town, Goodwood and Stellenbosch and they push up their prices all the time. Wines are horrendously ridiculous over 400% mark up. The cost of a plate of curry without rice is over R100 and the portions not big. They even stopped serving poppadums and condiments as an entree and you cannot even pay for a poppadum if you wanted to....they do not sell them AN INDIAN RESTAURANT WITHOUT POPPADUM????? Like i said despite all of this they serve the best tasting curry in Cape Town.

“Gone downhill!!”
Reviewed April 27, 2013 via mobile

I have been going here for the last 7/8 years, but my last visit will probably be my last.
The food was overpriced, R160 for 4 small lamb chops that were dry, over spiced & burnt, it could of been a Tesco horse burger for all I knew!!
Service was ok, but you expect this with the abundance of students looking to earn some extra cash in Stellenbosch.
On the whole the meal was just ok, but as a previous reviewer stated, go in to Cape Town for more choice & value for money.
I think the prices are purely for the European tourist who has missed a good curry for a week or 2!!

“Reheated food, disinterested management, poor service - not authentic Indian.”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

Visitors to this restaurant should be warned that nothing except for the naan bread is prepared on the premises. People who say they have eaten lovely food here are probably not familiar with authentic Indian cuisine. All dishes come frozen from Cape Town and are reheated, so the spicyness of dishes can NOT be flavored to your palate. We have eaten here a few times over the last 3 years, and always vow never to return - service is generally sloppy and the food average. Dishes are expensively priced for the tourists visiting Stellenbosch and because of the lack of other Indian options. There is much better quality and more affordable Indian food in Cape Town. We've once had the doors closed on us because the restaurant was empty even though we made a booking. Other friends have complained that that they found only 3 pieces of lamb in the vindaloo which sells for R180. There are many other fine options in Stellenbosch... avoid this one.
