We stayed at De Hoek Manor for 3 nights so we could tour the Stellenbosch wine region. Everything is a very short drive so it's the ideal location for wine tours - we had a hire car, so planned all our own tours and were delighted with the region and the quality of wines. Stellenbosch is a lovely town, with stunning restaurants and plenty of history, so De Hoek Manor is central to everything. I will agree with some other reviews - the church bells chiming every hour and half-hour does interfere with a good nights sleep. We were upgraded here as well (it seemed everywhere we stayed in South Africa, we received an upgrade!), good value, lovely breakfast. Had a couple of issues - even though we had used our credit card everywhere else, for some reason it was rejected each time the staff attempted to process our payment. After several attempts, we had to withdraw cash to pay from an ATM for our accommodation which added an extra foreign transaction fee to our account which otherwise wouldn't have applied to our credit card. Also, one night when we went to bed, realised we didn't have any toilet tissue in the bathroom, so had to go door-knocking throughout the Manor to find someone who could supply this very important item - they apologised profusely for this oversight the next morning, but it should never have happened. The staff were lovely and helpful throughout our stay and we would recommend De Hoek Manor to all travellers (if you're prepard to tolerate the church bells).

Staff smiling and very helpful. Church across the street kept chiming the bell at all hours and half-hours around the clock. It effectively prevented me from sleep during the night and after four days left me exhausted.

After touring arround in Southern and Western Cape we decided to stay at De H0ek Manor for four days before traveling back to Austria. We expirenced some wonderful days with great hospitality in a perfect central located guesthouse sourounded by a Museum complex.
We received good and honest advices by the Team for spending the day and Restaurants to stay for Dining.
It was just great.

We stayed over in Stellenbosch to be with my son at his 21st birthday party. The hospitality was warm and wonderful. The room was beautifully furnished and comfortable and the late night port and chocolate a thoughtful gesture. Breakfast was good served with a personal touch. The location is perfect.

We loved this guesthouse, the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, the location was central but just far enough that it's silent (except the church, bring your earplugs for the church bells!), and the rooms were beautiful. There was an amazing attention to detail, from turning the heating blankets on while we were out, to having a nice night cap drink in the room for us :)

Excellent hospitality, large, very comfortable and beautiful room, excellent bathroom with a large shower. Just wondered why the room's door handle is so low! Or maybe I am too tall... Definitely i would advice everyone to spend some time there.
