Description: We invite you to join us at the Restaurant Clos Malverne for the ultimate Food and Wine Experience. Our Restaurant offers you an utterly enjoyable intimate and friendly dining experience in unpretentious but beautiful surroundings. It is not surprising that the bulk of our clientele are people who have been here before as well as their friends and colleagues who have recommended it. As you dine, you and your guests will enjoy an unbelievable vista of the softly sweeping vineyards and rolling hills of Devon Valley - so reminiscent of their English counterpart - and the pastel-coloured mountains behind them. It is an incomparable view that will help create a pleasurable and utterly memorable experience. You'll also enjoy fine gourmet dishes prepared by Executive Chef, Nadia Louw-Smith, renowned for her impeccably-prepared and delicately spiced dishes that seduce the palate. She is one of the most experienced chefs in the country and has been voted Chef of the Year for her sublime dishes. It is not surprising then, that Clos Malverne restaurant has become a favourite of gourmands and has received rave reviews from critics and clients, both in South Africa and abroad. Our kitchen closes at 15:00.

“A wonderful way to spend a Sunday!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

Six of us visited Clos Malverne for a Sunday lunch and we all came away with nothing but praise for the food, the wine, the service and the scenery.
Just getting there is worth it all as the drive from Cape Town, via Baden Powell drive, takes in some startlingly beautiful views. Firstly the sea with the distant mountains sweeping down to the coast. Then the wine lands. And now that it is Autumn we were treated to the russets and golds of the changing leaves in the vineyards. When we were seated it was out on the balcony, and there again nature has painted amazing views. We therefore had feasts for the eyes as well as the stomach!
The tasting course is what we all opted for and not one of us could find fault with any serving. Deeeelicious! The wine was wonderful too, and my thanks go to our designated driver who so nobly gave up a big portion of her wine.
Altogether a great lunch.

“Fanastic experience again”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2013

We have visited Clos Malverne on many ocassions and it never fails to meet our high expectations. From the warm, efficient welcome and service to the final glass of complimentary dessert wine, the whole experience is both relaxing and exciting as you look forward to the next tasting course of beautifully presented, delicious food.

The only change I didn't like since our last visit is the move to the dark brown bowls in which most of the tasting courses were served. The grainy texture of the bowls also set my teeth on edge a little, but failed to spoil our great experience.

“The best value for money gourmet experience ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 17, 2013

I've been travelling to nearly all wine regions in Australia (multiple times) as well as Napa and Sonoma plus selected wine valleys in Germany. I always tried to visit the best winery restaurants in each location. Clos Malverne has offered the best ever experienced value for money wine pairing lunch.
Book your table as early as possible (in our case 2 months) and you will probably be seated outside on the restaurant's balcony with a view of the vineyard and mountain range. A view to die for by the way. It is more quiet outside and the panorama is so beautiful that it feels like you are seeing a perfect painting instead of reality.
à la carte is possible, but the 4-course food & wine pairing is the best to do. It starts with a welcome drink of sparkling, followed by an amuse bouche and 4-courses of really excellent gourmet food accompanied by great wines of the winery. Actually - you cannot drive anymore afterwards because they do not only pour a sip but at least 0,1l into your glass each time. 5 times 0,1l (at least - too much wine for car driving!)
Thank you Haylene and everybody in the service team for making us feel great and thank you, EVERYBODY in the numerous kitchen team for preparing great food in a delicious and beautiful way! I was serious with my invitation to Frankfurt in Germany - I wished I could treat you the same way :o)
I feel a very strong desire to visit this restaurant again and again and again in my future life... :o)

“Do the wine pairing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2013

My highest rating is if I would return.

I would return.

The way to enjoy this is to do the pairing - you order a meal paired with a glass of wine from the estate.

You are welcomed with a glass of good sparkling wine then four different glasses paired with 4 delicious courses - then I was given an extra glass of the sweet desert wine.

All while looking at the stellenbosch mountains and the vineyards from whence the wines come.

The meal was mostly good. Not mind blowing but you won't be disappointed. It's pretty good.

The wine is as good as you will get.

The overall experience is excellent.

Do it.
