Description: We invite you to join us at the Restaurant Clos Malverne for the ultimate Food and Wine Experience. Our Restaurant offers you an utterly enjoyable intimate and friendly dining experience in unpretentious but beautiful surroundings. It is not surprising that the bulk of our clientele are people who have been here before as well as their friends and colleagues who have recommended it. As you dine, you and your guests will enjoy an unbelievable vista of the softly sweeping vineyards and rolling hills of Devon Valley - so reminiscent of their English counterpart - and the pastel-coloured mountains behind them. It is an incomparable view that will help create a pleasurable and utterly memorable experience. You'll also enjoy fine gourmet dishes prepared by Executive Chef, Nadia Louw-Smith, renowned for her impeccably-prepared and delicately spiced dishes that seduce the palate. She is one of the most experienced chefs in the country and has been voted Chef of the Year for her sublime dishes. It is not surprising then, that Clos Malverne restaurant has become a favourite of gourmands and has received rave reviews from critics and clients, both in South Africa and abroad. Our kitchen closes at 15:00.

We really enjoyed this meal, and we very pleased with the excellent value. The view was the star, but the wine and food were close behind. The pairings were thoughtful and worked well, and the complimentary cap classique on arrival was much appreciated. Only (very small) gripe was the extreme difficulty of eating the vermicelli salad out of a deep soup bowl with a knife and fork. Apparently they get many comments about this. Perhaps if it too difficult/expensive to change the bowls, this Asian-inspired dish could be eaten in the Asian style with a spoon and fork? Apart from that, a wonderful afternoon with good food and wine, and friendly service. Only regret was that my husband refused to stay longer and let me work my way through the ice cream and wine pairings.

We chose Clos Malverne for a our last meal in South Africa after a wonderful holiday. They do an excellent food and wine pairing menu, starting with a 'welcome' champagne and then the menu, of 4 courses, with choices is paired with their wines. Each course was well presented and absolutely delicious. The staff are helpful and friendly, as was everyone we met. The views are stunning and one of the best.

Clos Malverne is a wine estate a few km out of Stellenbosch, with some of the finest views and reasonably priced, fabulous food to be had anywhere. We returned after an absence of a year.

Open for lunch, there is also a monthly gourmet dinner evening in summer, which the locals flock to - and with good reason. We attended the evening event as a couple and went again, for lunch, with friends a few weeks later.

Lunch is typically a 4 course tasting menu with paired wines. Food is brilliant, and the only slight issue is the rapidity of the courses arriving means you miss lingering over the previous course's wine sometimes. Much too good to be wasted or drunk to quickly! All this for under 200 rand per head - can't be beat.

The monthly evening event has more courses and even better wine. It is packed with locals, who might well prefer I did not tell you just how good it is. Let me just say that if you are visiting SA, then it is worth adjusting your stay in Stellenbosch to make sure you don't miss it!

Clos Malverne has steadily climbed the Trip Advisor ratings since we first started to enjoy their food. This is not by chance - the food and wine is fantastic and also incredible value. Plus the service is excellent. It's rating is well deserved. We will be back next year!

We all agree that the tasting menu with Malverne wines is a brilliant idea. I would like to add that one can instead have a la carte menu, we will probably try it on our next visit. With the bill we were given voucher towards purchase of a case of wine as well as a voucher for beauty treatment, as the estate has pampering boutique in addition to wine estate and restaurant.
The restaurant was fully booked and the staff provided excellent service with a smile.
