This is a restaurant in heaven - and the food is angelical in every way. As the sun sets over the mountain range - a magnificent purple orange lights the sky and magically mingles day to night. It is sensual and breathless. I think the magic of the atmosphere informs the chef - because the meal transforms the senses - as do the incredible array of Jordan wines. A wonderful night out! I did so want to give the restaurant 5 stars - but I gave that to the five hundred at the Saxon in Johannesburg - but Jordan restaurant is oh so close!

We had a special occasion to celebrate and arrived early for dinner in order to have pre drinks. The hostess at the entrance door muttered that we are too early and they can not accommodate us for pre drinks! We were told to sit at our table while they were busy preparing their staff for the servings of the evening. After waiting for 15 minutes we had to ask for a wine list to order something to drink. I consider this as rude and unprofessional for a restaurant of this status. We were treated like intruders and as if we were privilege to be eating there. When ordering our meals nobody explained the menu to us and we needed to ask our waitress about the meals. She was only able to read the description on the menu and therefor this didn't help us at all! We've visited a lot of the top 10 restaurants on the South African eat out list and this was by far the most disappointing and worst hospitality experience we ever had. The hostess or chef never came to ask if our food were good and if we enjoyed our experience. Again it seems like we were lucky to eat there! The food was very good, the setting exceptional, but the hospitality lacking. I will not recommend this restaurant to any one. A lot of guests from overseas was there that evening and it is a pity and a shame that they have to experience this poor hospitality! Especially in the Cape wine lands were there a so many restaurants to choose from.

“Always good”
Reviewed February 16, 2014 via mobile

We always make a plan to go here, usually with family or friends once or twice a year as a real treat. The staff are so helpful and have a good sense of humour. The food is outstanding, beautifully presented and Mr Jardine is ace at cooking the less prime curs exceedingly well. The pork neck was as delicious as the steak. The vegetarian option was also declared a hit. Wine prices are higher than on many other wine estates so choose carefully. By the glass is not always the most economical. The new bakery is worth popping in to as well.

“Food made us sick”
Reviewed February 15, 2014

We SO looked forward to this restaurant, so my husband and I were deeply disappointed when we both ended up with stomach cramps, diarrhea, and nausea the next morning, and for the following 3 days. We later heard from a friend that she suffered the same symptoms after a meal at Jordan Restaurant. The food is incredibly rich, they must be using lots of butter or cream or such stuff, and just thinking of it made us feel sick. In general we try to eat healthily, and we use the minimum butter, etc., so our bodies clearly could not handle the over-richness. I don't understand why top food must equal the use of loads of unhealthy ingredients, and why great food can't also be healthy and good? Shouldn't THAT be the aim of a restaurant that wants to be tops? Especially in these days? Should food only taste nice (because it is drowning in butter), or should it both taste nice and be nourishing to our bodies (which I believe is possible, and the true mark of a top meal)?

Have been there dozens of times and sent numerous local and overseas guests there.
The venue, service and food/wine has always been of an exceptional standard .the view in the late afternoon is hard to beat .
I cannot think of any of my guests who have been disappointed by going there
Definitely in top 10 in country
