What a pleasure to be able to view renowned South African and International artists such as Rodin and Pierneef, beautifully lit and exhibited in this Stellenbosch gem of a museum.

The Franschhoek car museum has truly incredible cars - love the Ferrari and MacLaren barn (!!) and the fabulous setting.
But it's not very family-friendly, and the welcome from the reception desk was a bit disapproving of my two small children from the start. Total cost was R80 per adult and R40 per child - quite steep as the kids were 3 and 4 respectively.
There was a big screen display in each of the 4 halls with info about the museum and cars, but no interactive displays. The kids really had been so excited about seeing the cars, but with all the "don't touch" and "be quiet" and "step back from the blue tape" and "don't run on the lawn" (signs asked visitors to stay off) I think they did not enjoy it as much as they had been expecting to. I would have loved to hear one of the super cars started up - that growl is simply visceral and mmmm! No such luck.
