We have been to Hilcrest quite a few times and always enjoy it, although it can be quite crowded at times. If you are able to, phone ahead an make a reservation, especially if you want a table outside as the views are stunning. If you are taking young children with, ask for an outside table to the right where there is a samll patch of grass, with a little more rome to move around. The food is very good, although I think sometimes a bit over priced as we are spoiled for choice with all the surrounding wine farms. But if you like berries, this place is a must.

It is easy to miss the turning to this venue, so if you are not sure where it is ask for directions. Whatever you do, don't miss it because it is well worth a visit. The food is good and the afternoon Devonshire cream tea is awesome. The setting is superb looking out to the mountains of the Helshoogte Pass. There is also a shop in which you can buy wonderful jams and preserves to take home.

Heard about the legendary scones so decided to stop by today, the scones and jam were good but not memorable. The presentation was poor. Although the location and views are stunning. They do offer a high tea at a reasonable price of R75 which is a selection pastries and scones, we were told that this must be ordered 2 weeks in advance? This is not advertised anywhere. The scones and presentation were much better at Boschendal.

Stopped at Hillcrest Berry Orchards for tea and scones on route to Vrede and Lust Wine Estate. As it was a Saturday, we could not sit outside (note to self: book a table outside next time), but had a lovely brunch inside in between hundreds of bottles of jams, olive oils, etc. Scones, jams, tea, coffee (filter coffee an amazing deal as we were able to have more than 2 cups from one plunger), really satisfied this coffeeolic. You can purchase a huge variety of jams, frozen berries, olive and other oils, and lots more. A must visit.
