“Go check the koi!”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

We've been roaming the streets and visited Stellenbosch over the last couple of years and only this last season discovered the Botanical Gardens. It was a bit dry and needed attention - but understandable with it having been during the holidays, but nice spot in the centre of town to visit and have a meal. Unfortunately the restaurant was very busy with groups and we didn't want to wait It appeared that the restaurant was popular - under the trees, but the service was a bit too slow for our liking. We strolled the grounds and visited the koi ponds - The size!! The biggest koi fish I've ever seen. Go check them out.

“Surprised by a Botanical Garden”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

Wandering around Stellenbosch and its touristic sights, is after a couple of hours tiring - and nothing wrong with a pause at the beautiful created Botanical Garden which is easily to reach by foot from Dorp Straat. Excellent herb garden, indigenous garden, neatly paths and than : a bonsai-garden with a variety of those old old , very old dwarf-trees which are leaving your mouth open! that is something you would not expect at the tip of Africa!
