This was one of two really world-class meals arranged by our Stellenbosch wine country tour guide, Glen Christie at Vineyard Ventures. (I'm working on getting Glen's firm listed here on TripAdvisor so I can do her proper credit.) The previous day, she had taken us to Jordan Restaurant (which I've also reviewed).

The views from the patio here really are too stunning to describe, and my photography skills don't do them justice either (though I tried below). Go to the Delaire Graff website for professional attempts. The food was outstanding, and we were not the least bit rushed through a 2.5 hour meal. This one stop has ensured that we will return to the Stellenbosh.

BTW, like most of our great meals in South Africa in December-January 2011-2012, this one came in under US$150 for outstanding food, paired wines, and tip for two people. Eat your heart out Napa/Sonoma! OK, this ain't the French Laundry, but you won't get these views there, and you won't get a $600 per-person tab here!

We came for dinner on a cloudy night, so couldn't enjoy the view everyone raves about, but were nonetheless blown away by the setting. The drive up the hill is beautiful, as is the entrance to the restaurant. We had lovely wine in the lounge with excellent wine, and then a very nice dinner in the dining room. The food wasn't spectacular, but very very good, and pricey, but that's expected at a place like this. We really liked the oyster appetizer, and the lamb and mushrooms were quite good. We were pleasantly surprised to have challah served as one of the breads -- not something you see often, but very welcome on such a culturally diverse and eclectic menu.

This winery restaurant atop a ridge near Stellenboch is well worth the trip, simply for the spectacular view and the exotic art collection.

The restaurant was superb with great service and some great South African specialties (e.g., the antelope was very tasty and well prepared).

This is by far the most amazing vineyard I have ever visited. Absolutely gorgeous views from the restaurant. Good service and the food is not so bad either but that's not why you are there really....

Grounds and views are stunningly beautiful, interior is like a dream with wonderful use of stone, water, pebbles and sculpture. Fantastic wine tasting by the fireplace with live piano music followed by a great lunch--this dish was to die for: crayfish, bisque, potato gnocchi, king oyster mushroom, parmesan!!
