“Outstanding Stellenbosch views, quiet & designed with the very best finishes - let them escort you to dinner!”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

Two nights at Clouds, and dining via the Clouds' graciously offered golf cart to/from Delaire Graaf and Indochine, were absolutely perfect.
The hotel is designed, circa late 2012, with the most beautiful and contemporary finishes. The staff at this small establishment were attentive but unobtrusive. The villa (#8) was completely peaceful, with a beautiful infinity pool overlooking the most beautiful mountain view. Breakfast was all anyone could want.
Overall, I would recommended, wholeheartedly, Clouds Estate to anyone considering a visit to Cape Town and Stellenbosch area, whether for wine tasting or just relaxing.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Clouds. I believe the estate has recently been through a major renovation and is now a very modern estate compared to what it was before.

The room we stayed in was in the main building above the reception area, it was very spacious and had a lovely large balcony over looking the pool with a beautiful view of the mountains. The bar fridge was stocked with some snacks and beverages including a bottle of Rose form Clouds Estate, all of which was complimentary.

We didn’t eat any meals here other than breakfast that was quite good. My only point for improvement would be the WiFi, it was very patchy and did not connect in certain parts of the room which was quite frustrating.

The gentleman at the reception was very helpful and accommodating of all our requests. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would be happy to go back or recommend Clouds.

We recently stayed at Clouds on a quick overnight visit and were pleasantly surprised at the great value of the hotel. Our room was close to the reception but we were never bothered by noise. The weather was miserable and the spectacular views, with which we are very familiar, were hidden behind grey clouds, so we were not able to experience the great verandah outside our room or the inviting pool area downstairs.
Our room was spacious, extrememy comfortable and the underfloor heating in the bathroom is a luxury that still makes my heart flutter :-)
The Nespresso machine is becoming one of those must-haves in a nice hotel room and our room did not disappoint.
Breakfast was a delightful spread of fresh, cold items and a speedily-served cooked assortment, with happy, pleasant staff.
Two small issues came to our attention: the strange locking mechanism on the door had us a little confused and not sure if we were ever locked in or not and the water in the shower was luke-warm at best - something that earns few points with the scorch-loving husband. Overall, as a tour operator, we would recommend Clouds Estate to our travellers.

Room Tip: Views over Simonsberg are spectacular

We arrived early evening at the estate and like the name promises the surrounding hills and winelands were covered by clouds, which gave a spectacular view from our balcony. (In the morning the clouds were replaced by glorious sunshine.)
The hotel is very modern and the rooms are spacious.
The shower is amazing.
Unfortunately the hotel only serves breakfast. But they helped us make a reservation at the neighboring estate and took us there by golf buggy, so we could enjoy the wines. The service at Delaire Graff was great and the food even better and not too expensive.
Would definitely stay here again.

We had a stunning experience at Clouds. We had the honeymoon suit and they gave our son the suite next door with an inter leading door to create a family suite. Our balcony was enormous and the views from our bed and balcony where amazing, you certainly are in the clouds. The décor is very modern, but makes a pleasant change in South Africa. Breakfasts where out of this world and the staff where all very helpful. Clouds is right next door to Delaire Graff and they will transport you between the two estates on a golf cart, so book for dinner at Delaire Graff you will be amazed and impressed beyond belief!!

Room Tip: Honeymoon Suite is to die for.

We loved staying at Clouds with our family! We stayed in two villas and enjoyed excellent service, lovely clean rooms with amazing views.

Breakfast was a real treat and we looked forward to it every morning!

Was surprised by two huge bowls of popcorn when we decided to watch some videos! What a nice touch...

Towels and bed linen always clean and in excellent condition, loved the Nespresso machine in each room and also the comfy furniture. Also asked for a baby cot and were given a lovely clean camping cot with pretty duvet for baby. Nice touch! Loved the heated towel rails and underfloor heating in the bathrooms.

Were disappointed that there were no baths in the rooms and also no serving dishes in the kitchen. Also attending a wedding in the area I would have appreciated a vanity table somewhere to be able to do my hair and make-up. Did not enjoy sitting on the bed and having to do it in the cupboard mirror.

The newly renovated Clouds Estate on Helshoogte Pass between Stellenbosch and Franschoek is absolutely heaven. The Estate is surrounded by vineyards and mountains and has breathtaking views all around. We stayed in one of the deluxe rooms that had floor to ceiling glass windows and doors and the decor is ultra modern and chic with designed furniture by MOOI and Linteloo. The service is impeccable, however I found the breakfast to be rather ordinary and tasteless.

There are 3 close fine dining restaurants on other Estates next door and across the road, however it is a winding drive to access further restaurants in either Stellenbosch or Franschoek.

Should one want to sleep with the door open, there definitely is road noise from the pass below, however this should not be a consideration. A truly magnificent place to stay in the wine-lands.

Room Tip: The Deluxe room adjacent to the garden was superb.
