“Stunning!!”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

We had a stunning experience at Clouds. We had the honeymoon suit and they gave our son the suite next door with an inter leading door to create a family suite. Our balcony was enormous and the views from our bed and balcony where amazing, you certainly are in the clouds. The décor is very modern, but makes a pleasant change in South Africa. Breakfasts where out of this world and the staff where all very helpful. Clouds is right next door to Delaire Graff and they will transport you between the two estates on a golf cart, so book for dinner at Delaire Graff you will be amazed and impressed beyond belief!!

Room Tip: Honeymoon Suite is to die for.

We loved staying at Clouds with our family! We stayed in two villas and enjoyed excellent service, lovely clean rooms with amazing views.

Breakfast was a real treat and we looked forward to it every morning!

Was surprised by two huge bowls of popcorn when we decided to watch some videos! What a nice touch...

Towels and bed linen always clean and in excellent condition, loved the Nespresso machine in each room and also the comfy furniture. Also asked for a baby cot and were given a lovely clean camping cot with pretty duvet for baby. Nice touch! Loved the heated towel rails and underfloor heating in the bathrooms.

Were disappointed that there were no baths in the rooms and also no serving dishes in the kitchen. Also attending a wedding in the area I would have appreciated a vanity table somewhere to be able to do my hair and make-up. Did not enjoy sitting on the bed and having to do it in the cupboard mirror.

The newly renovated Clouds Estate on Helshoogte Pass between Stellenbosch and Franschoek is absolutely heaven. The Estate is surrounded by vineyards and mountains and has breathtaking views all around. We stayed in one of the deluxe rooms that had floor to ceiling glass windows and doors and the decor is ultra modern and chic with designed furniture by MOOI and Linteloo. The service is impeccable, however I found the breakfast to be rather ordinary and tasteless.

There are 3 close fine dining restaurants on other Estates next door and across the road, however it is a winding drive to access further restaurants in either Stellenbosch or Franschoek.

Should one want to sleep with the door open, there definitely is road noise from the pass below, however this should not be a consideration. A truly magnificent place to stay in the wine-lands.

Room Tip: The Deluxe room adjacent to the garden was superb.

Stayed here in July 2013, loved it. Checked in very late and we were greeted with warm welcome into a spotless, gorgeous accommodation. Everything right on point, the room as everything one needs include fluffy night gowns, true 5 star!

Breakfast was delicious, mini buffet with little of everything, recommend you try the toasted muesli cereal. Hot breakfast very well prepared and good portions.

Loved it and we will back.
Congratulations to the clouds estate team

Room Tip: we stayed in room 1 and we had awesome views facing the pool as well as having own little balcony. N...

Hidden somewhere on the hills between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, Clouds Estate is the best place to visit neighboring wine estates; totally refurbished by new owners, it benefits from modern design and simple decoration; the view on the surrounding mountains, wine lands and nature is absolutely beautiful. While, apart from delicious breakfast, there is no restaurant on premises, the place is located just across the road from one of the best restaurants in South Africa, Tokara, based at eponymous wine estate.
Great welcome and good advice from the guy running the proprety as well.

As mentioned, the location and views are ideal. However, the female manager is not the most warm person; however, her male counterpart is absolutely a gem. Rooms are a bit small but nicely appointed. Breakfast and its service was superb.

We stayed for two evenings and it was probably our favorite place during our stay in the Cape area. The new owners recently renovated the building and the rooms are stylish and comfortable. The bathroom was also very "designer." The views from the room/bathroom, and from just about every vantage point on the property were jaw-dropping.

The staff and managers who were on duty the weekend we were there were enormously friendly, rushing to plate dinner that we brought back with us one evening. They also have a friendly relationship with the Delaire Graff Estate next door, with a staff member taking and picking us up in a golf buggy on a back route so we could go for wine tasting without having to drive.

Breakfast was delicious, but as a guest house (not a hotel), the property doesn't offer other meals. However, it provided recommendations for nearby restaurants and happily made reservations. Mini-bar was complimentary with a few beers and cans of cola/juice, but it was never replenished after we checked in. Don't know if this was an oversight or policy.

Clouds Estate is conveniently located outside of Stellenbosch, making drives to Franschhoek and Paarl really easy.

We found Clouds Estate to offer excellent value, especially given the low season rates we enjoyed. Can't get those heavenly views gives out of our heads.
