After a hectic day, this was a wonderful, peaceful sanctuary, enhanced with some very tasty Pinotage from their honesty bar. My room was spacious, and instructions had been left for my late check-in. Dinner was left in my room - a delicious vegetarian meal. The victorian bath, complete with legs, provided great relaxation.

Room Tip: The loft room I occupied was spacious and beautifully appointed, with a little balcony that had a view of the (rainy) expanse outside.

Dear Eish
It is a beautiful morning after all the rain and snow on the mountains and your review added "sunshine". We are pleased you enjoyed your stay at Knorhoek and of course, our wonderful wines as well. Thank you for mentioning the features in the room and I'm pleased you enjoyed the Victorian bath - nothing like soaking in a deep bath!!
Wishing you many more wonderful journeys.
Regards
Carol

We really loved it here! The rooms are very authentic with tiled floors and old elements. Felt like going back in time. We were welcomed with a nice glass of wine! Great rooms, nice breakfast, nothing to complain. The only downside is that it is a little out of Stellenbosch so you will need your own wheels.

Dear Clients
Thank you somuch for taking the time to write this lovely review. I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay with us - we enjoy meeting people from all over the world and try to give them a feeling of being at home; relaxed and comfortable.
We are still having the most glorious warm sunny weather - not the true Cape winter!
Hope the rest of your holiday was fantastic.
Regards
Carol

Stayed for two nights at Knorhoek as it was close to some family friends that we wanted to visit while we were in South Africa. Booked through their website and all went smoothly. There was also no problem in arriving early so that we could settle in before meeting friends for Sunday lunch at another nearby vineyard.

Guesthouse was easy to find and there was plenty of parking close to the main building. The young woman who checked us in was a little withdrawn, but she soon livened up after we asked about the house and lovely grounds. After that, everyone we dealt with, particularly Carol the owner, was most helpful and welcoming.

Our room was one of a group that had probably been a series of small outbuilding in days gone by. It was not as large as I had anticipated, but it was comfortably appointed with a double bed, side tables and decent lighting. I didn't even notice the TV for a while, as it was on the wall up in a corner of the room. Plenty of hanging and storage space. Bathroom had a shower stall and plenty of decent towels, plus the usual soaps and shampoos. In front of our room was a little patio with a small table and two chairs - a very pleasant place to enjoy watching the birds and relaxing with a glass of wine.

The main house had a lovely lounge area, complete with dogs and fireplace, and snacks were set out in the afternoon. There was wine and bottled water in the refrigerator on the honour system, so we just popped our payment in the box, or told Carol to add our beverages to our bill. It's nice to be treated like an adult. The Internet connection on the workstation for guest use was a bit erratic because of the location, and of course, like practically every other place we stayed in South Africa, there was a charge.

Breakfast was served in a pleasant, sunny room with a lovely view over the vineyards. There was a sideboard of good cereals, home cooked muffins and bread, juices and fruit. Our poached eggs were perfectly cooked, and the bacon and sausage were excellent. And of course plenty of good coffee and a choice of regular or rooibos tea.

Knorhoek has a restaurant associated with it, which appeared very popular the evening it was open. It's in a separate location and has its own parking. Since they run a winery as well, there was also a lovely little tasting room. It is also a regular farm, so there is a lot going on, but still manages to be relaxed and peaceful. You are a long way from the City here.

The staff were very helpful in ordering transportation into Paarl or Stellenbosch in the evenings, and were very kind when I left the enormous room key in the back of one of the taxis. Between the taxi owner and Carol, the key was soon returned to its rightful location. We must have been under some crossed stars, as my husband left his collection of electronic chargers and converters in the room when we departed. There followed several email and telephone exchanges between us and Carol before, during and after we left the country. She went out of her way to help us and finally dispatched everything via DHL to our US office. Kudos to DHL as the package arrived in 48 hours.

So, the room may have been a little small, and the bed a little squeaky, but the service, attention and kindness shown, as well as its peaceful location, more than made up for any little inconsistencies and certainly warranted giving Knorhoek an excellent rating. We would not hesitate to stay there again or to recommend it to others.

And remember that Afrikaans is the language of choice in the region, so you may be surprised when the telephone is not answered in English!

Dear Marley from Boulder
(and don't I now know that location!!) Thank you so much for your beautiful and honest review - you have no idea how helpful it is in trying to make improvements and inspiring our staff that they continue doing what is expected of them. Yes, your room is the smallest in the guesthouse - must have stabled the Shetland pony in earlier days. I enjoyed chatting to you while you were here and am pleased we could get all the bits and pieces back to you safely.
Thank you again for taking the time to write about us and we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay.
Regards
Carol

I've stayed here with family first time back in 2002 and again in 2006. We loved the atmosphere, the surroundings and most of all the service. Next time we're in Stellenbosch, we'll certainly visit again.

Dear Guest
Thank you for taking the time to give us your review. I'm pleased you enjoyed our farm, and the peaceful, rustic atmosphere that we enjoy sharing with visitors. We always advise our guests to visit the wine tasting faclity by 4pm in order to do the full, unhurried tasting, with the character and complexities of each wine being explained to you.
Our meals are true South African favourites; we aim to introduce the visitor to the food we have in our own homes on special and ordinary occasions - I'm pleased you enjoyed it.
We trust you have had a super holiday in our beautiful country.
Sincerely
Carol
