Stumble Inn Backpackers Lodge is 2 separate houses. The main house where you check in seemed like the place to be if you want to lounge and meet other backpackers. The second house about 2 houses down the street (where I stayed) was very quite with only one co-ed bathroom. The hostel has places to eat and go out very close otherwise a short walk will take you into more of the city center.

BRING A TOWEL. They don't normally have towels available.

I stayed only one night in this hostel. For a quick place to sleep, stumble home and shower it worked out quite well.

Very good location, excellent service, but too noisy in the late hours (young party people don't seem to care about the sleep of other people).

The whole place is very tired and run down, and the kitchen is so dirty it's probably a health hazard. The kitchen is also very poorly equipped. The hostel is very cold, and the staff struggled to find us some extra bedding, eventually taking some from an empty room.

Cheap backpacker joint. Staff are friendly, but rooms leave quite a bit to be desired. They didn't feel all that secure either. The staff and some guests also decided to have a party when we were there and played some thumping techo till the early hours, the noise from which easily travelled through the thin walls to our room. I reckon if you're an 18 yr old traveller on a tight budget then this would be an acceptable (and maybe even fun?) place to stay. For us it was a bit below par.

During our backpacking trip through Capetown, we decided to check out the wineries at Stellenbosch and came across Stumble Inn.

We arrived in the Spring and Capetown was still a bit on the chilly side. There was no heater in the rooms and the rooms were freezing. In addition, the bathrooms often ran out of hot water so taking a shower was difficult at best.

Also, noise traveled easily between the rooms. During our stay, there was probably 20 kids (age 10) who stayed there for a sports tournament and they were LOUD morning through night.

I would not stay here again.
