Good value for money we where upgraded to a beatifull room on top of the main house. Parking a bit tricky but ok.Breakfast always very good. Location is good and we did not suffer from the students nearby.

Location here is very good for the university and CSIR, and 10-15 mins walk to the main shops and restaurants. Friday, Saturday and Wednesday nights can be noisy with student braais and parties, and the regular car racing along Merriman St. Staff are friendly and helpful, and you always meet interesting visitors at breakfast.

Room Tip: Rooms are on two sides of Ryneveld St. You probably get what you pay for, but check beforehand to be...

I stayed at Ryneveld for about 2 weeks while in Stellenbosch working at the University. Ryneveld is very conveniently located to the University and also a short walk from a grocery store (Fresh Market, I think it might be called) where you can buy lunch. This place is, however, about a 30 minute walk from the touristy street called Dorp. There is no kitchen here but there is a small fridge, microwave, water heater and some plates/silverware. The walls tend to be a bit thin so I could hear other people watching loud TV or talking on the phone, but since school was out of session, this wasn't a big deal. The bed was very comfortable but it doesn't get very dark in the room with the curtains closed (esp during sunrise) so bring an eye mask! Breakfast was awesome each day but expect to take your time if you're ordering off their limited 3-option menu (since I was here so long the limited menu became rather annoying, but I imagine a short stay would have no problem, each item was delicious!). Overall, this place doesn't really have any frills but sleeping was just fine and breakfast was delicious!

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the main building where the reception desk is. There are students on the other...

Although we apparently were late for breakfast (no fresh cookings from the kitchen for us), our room was cosy and safe. There were no street noises, enough locks and gates to protect us and enough ventilation to keep us cool.
I especially liked the decor and accessories in and around our room :)
We had a great time during our stay!

Great value hotel. However, we were disappointed when we arrived mainly because of the cleverly taken website photos and blurb which suggest luxury when in fact it is a good basic hotel. Breakfast was great, lovely smoothies and freshly made omelettes. Location wise very close to the centre but you do feel on the student side of town rather than where other hotels are. We didn't notice any noise and we were travelling with a baby. In summary, great value place to stay but not the Victorian luxury suggested, but can't argue at the price.

The worst exoerience I have ever had in a b&b. Their advertising is misleading!!!!ITS NOT 4star!!!mayve a 0star!!You must be very careful not to pay before they actually take you to your room, especially the cottages outside (I do not know what criteria do they use to determine whether u stay in the cottage or the house!!). The rooms in the cottage are dingy, they do not change your bedding. The rooms have ants...toilets are not properly sanitized. The noise from the people and the cars at 2am is unbearable. Their breakfast was equally bad!!!AWFUL experience!!!

We spent a night there on our way back from a safari in Inverdoom to Cape Town. The place was recommended in the South Africa guide book latest edition (DK Eyewitness travel) bougth in Melbourne. We reserve by the phone a room for 1100 R, when we arrive less than 2 hours later the room is for 1200 R. We didn't manage to turn the TV on, neither did we manage to open the available parking gate (with an electronic key) twice with a faulty key nor where we able to use the internet voucher.
We discover, whilst having breakfast, that the attendant cut off the TV because it was very windy ?
Rather a disapointing evening.

Room Tip: avoid room upstairs ( low level ceiling
