We stayed at Asara for 2 nights. Arriving very late on the Friday, due to delayed flights, but we were warmly welcomed and the staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The food and wine of course, was really good. The views are breathtaking. Very tranquil environment. The service at the Sansibar is very slow, and the waiters are not very attentative. Many guest would be left unattended for long periods of time, but overall its a great place to stay, eat and relax. They also offer in room spa faciities which is really convenient and relaxing. They dont advertise this on their website, which I think they should do. Would highly recommend to anyone.

We had our yearly planning conference at Asara - what a beautiful venue. They were very organized and kept the nice snacks coming during our tea-breaks. We stayed for lunch and dinner as well – and it was delicious.

We had the best room of our trip as well as fabulous food, wine and service. Would stay there again and recommend everyone else to visit. We experienced their spa with a massage in our room, a tour of the winery followed by a wine tasting, breakfast and dinner on the terrace over looking the lake and the hills in the distance. We also visited the deli for afternoon tea and delicious snacks. There seemed to be many honeymooners staying!

We spent a night at Asara for wine and views on our trip to SA. What we found was a well-kept hotel, tastefully decorated with all the facilities you would expect, and lovely breakfast over-looking the view. Only slight downside was dinner, which was not quite to the same gastronomic standard as we grew accustomed to in Cape Town, but still very lovely, and relatively inexpensive for the setting.

Room Tip: We booked a cheap room and still had a lovely view!

We stayed here on the last night of a recent trip, and nothing was too much trouble from the moment we arrived. The food at Raphael's was top-notch, with excellent, unfussy service and a surprisingly good sommelier, providing subtle, appropriate advice. The rooms are spacious, and we had a view out over the vineyards themselves. The subtle smell of wine and grapes pervades the entire place. Friendly staff, decent prices, and it just doesn't get much better than this!

Room Tip: Ask for the view of the vineyard - we stayed in 115

A friend and I recently spent a week at Asara and had the most amazing experience. We were with a group from Canada of about 50 people and our week included day trips, cycling, the Cape Argus cycling tour, dinners and of course lots of wine. Peter and his crew, took care of every last detail and made our trip completely care free and relaxing. The rooms were great, the breakfasts were incredible and the wine tasting was fantastic. It's a great distance from Cape Town and a great jumping off point to tour the whole Cape. Stellenbosch, the closest town is a wonderful town to explore with great shopping and fantastic restaurants.

I really cannot fault this hotel . We really enjoyed our stay. Room and meals outstanding. Lovely shop/delicatessen on site. Ideally situated outside of the town, and close to good wine-tasting venues.
