We first went here in the afternoon & had a leisurly coffee & huge piece of cake ,while we sat outside and people watched. The young apprentice serving us was very helpful & told us all about the place & about her apprenticeship & funding. What a great way to train youngsters into the industry! Infact we were so impressed with the place we booked a table for the evening & we were not disappointed. We had fabulous starters followed by two steaks and wine. The service was very good and they were also serving a large party. The food and service was better than we had in cape towns top restaurants. well worth a visit just to watch the chocolates being made ( you can make your own with the chocolatier for a fee) I took a box home - delicious!

I went there for lunch. Overall it was relatively uneventful. Nice scenery and great food. The service could have been faster and executed in a more timely manner. For example they would bring something and hen totally abandon me. Also I never knew who was serving me as it constantly changed. They need to get the service situated since the food is awesome.

What a TERRIBLE experience in a lovely town with countless other excellent coffee shops and restaurants with good service in the Cape Winelands. Two friends arrived at 12:30 pm for lunch, restaurant was medium full. First after waiting a while for a waiter we had to summons someone, then after taking our order she disappeared and another waitress came to tell us the item was not available anymore. We then ordered breakfast which the waitress then told us could not be served as there were only three(?) chefs in the kitchen, although it explicitly states on the menu breakfast is still served until 2 pm. that Seems that between 3 chefs no one had the time to make a simple omelette.... We then rather left for another of the excellent restaurants in the town. Shocking service and Not a good experience! Don't waist your time and money!

We had lunch there today, ordered a burger and a chicken pie, were very excited about the apprentise as I also studied at the ica and are proud of it. However I ordered my burger medium done, we wated a while as the restaurant was not that busy. Food arrived and my burger was completely overcooked past well done. Both our plates had salads on but was completely overdressed to the point it looked like someone sat on the plates befor they were send to our table. The burger's bread was so out of size to the burger patty and dry. Prices are very reasonable, nice seting. Not sure if the chef looked at the plates but he walked around with his chefs hat around not looking to involved. We also had to get up and pay our bill by the counter as there was no waiter in sight.

Not sure if we will go back there again.

13 of us had breakfast at Apprentice on 17 Apr 2013. The group seems to have been much to large for the restaurant to handle. The waiting period before the first meals arrived exceeded 50 min. By the time the first guests had eaten their breakfast the last of the order had still not arrived. 2 Guests cancelled their orders because it was still being prepared when the other 11 were finished eating (more than 1h30 after the order was placed)

The chef had no idea how to prepare Eggs Benedict, one of the menu items. The dish contained fried instead of poached eggs, the toast was burnt and the "home made" Hollandaise sauce tasted like lemon butter; totally unacceptable. The other meals were very basic giving no reason for the huge waiting period

If we were told that the restaurant cannot handle groups of more than 4 we would have utilized an alternative venue, As for the Eggs Benedict: there is no excuse for bad preperation and lack of knowledge
