We were referred to Eikendal by a friend and it was an amazing 'find' in an area defined by wonderful wines farms and lodges, Eikendal stood out for us. Serendipity!
From the wonderful chatty reception at the tasting room when we ambled in through the wrong entrance, to the friendly greeting by all staff, to the very efficient check in. The rooms are large and light, beautifully but comfortably decorated, with many wonderful little 'gifts' - rose petals, fresh flowers and sweets, beautiful private patio to spend a little bit of of private time before joping other guests for a complimentary glass of wine on the patio. The pool is clean, comfortable size and inviting, and reasonably private. The gardens are beautiful and serene, perfect after a long day.
Breakfast was great, wonderful selection of fresh well prepared fruits, confectionery and traditional breaksfasts, with good coffee.
We felt at home and welcome from the minute we set foot on the Estate, a wonderful experience when away from home.

The only comment I would possibly have to improve our stay, as a person who loves coffee and feels life is to short to drink bad coffee, the coffee/ tea station in the room is disappointing. One can accept instant coffee satchets from a City Lodge, I would have preferred a tea pot and coffee plunger, with a wider selection of teas and fresh coffee with a small ptcher of fresh milk!

The wireless internet was also not very efficient, making it a little difficult to work effectively, as the 3g signal is also not great.

My business partner remarked that he would definitely return especially when travelling with his family, a wonderful experience, I agree!

Thank you very much for your comments and lovely review. It is great to hear that you felt welcome and at home, from the minute you set foot onto our beautiful estate! We read your recommendations with great care, and I have the pleasure to inform you that we have decided to "upgrade" our tea/coffee station! Thus offering our guests better quality and a bigger variety of beverages in their rooms. As a coffee lover myself, I do realize the pleasures of a good cup of coffee!! Our Wi-Fi connection has meanwhile been improved even more, offering a stronger signal to all 9 rooms. We look forward to welcome you and your business partner back to Eikendal Lodge next time. We would love to meet your families, especially the kiddies, who are most welcome here at Eikendal!!
With kind regards and best wishes,
Leonie, Kristine and the Eikendal Lodge team

Another year, another holiday and yet another perfect start at Eikendal - 30 minutes from Cape Town Airport. As before, you cannot fault this for such excellent spacious accommodation, super breakfasts, one of the best pool areas in S A, welcoming and helpful staff - Leonie Fourie runs a delightful lodge for complete relaxation amidst superb scenery.

We've booked for next year again - you must try it! Took more friends with us this year - they loved it too!

There is no quick and easy way to sum up our stay at the Eikendal Lodge apart from Awesome, Fantastic, and when can we stay there again. The cleanliness of the rooms, the small terraces where you can enjoy a wine looking at the Helderberg Mountains, and the clean fresh air, where should I stop? The staff are friendly and do everything they can to make you feel comfortable. There is always laughter in the air. Relaxing by the pool after a day of sightseeing is great. The small wine tasting that Leonie and her team organise is a relaxing way to end the day, sampling some of the great Eikendal wines in their true home! Thanks for the lovely 8 days we spent with you!

We stayed for three nights at Eikendal Lodge during the South African summer. In general it was wonderful. Great and friendly service, which made you feel at home from the moment of arrival. Breakfast couldn't be better. Rooms were clean, quiet and spacious. A nice and quiet pool.
The views form the lodge weren't as beautiful as one might assume looking at the webpage of the lodge, and the bathroom, though clean and well equiped, could benefit from an small update of the interior.
One restaurant suggestion by the staff was diappointing; "De Volkskombuis" in Stelllenbosch. We strongly advise people not to go there.
Overall the experience at the lodge was positive and we will consider going back there if we will be in the area.

A lovely place with great staff. Enjoyed the jazz evening. Running amongst the vines early mornings before breakfast was a novelty for me. Good restaurant at the winery - shame not open in the evenings but good places nearby. Enjoyed the wines too.

Best kept secret of the Stellenbosch wine route, the hottentot holland mountain range overlooking the vine valley will take your breath away. Highly recommend this place. The pool is lovely and the gardens are well kept. The rooms are stunning and each has a private area to look out in the vineyards and the mountains.
