We were welcomed by Heather and Kim, the owners. The Inn was quiet and very comfortable. Before we arrived on 31 December we asked them to make a reservation for New Year's Eve. The first place fell through and they went ahead and booked us at another place for the evening. It was fantastic! We also went on a day trip to Cape Agulhas and they let us borrow a cool box to take lunch so we wouldn't have to stop. The rooms were clean. The views were fantastic! Thanks for a great stay!

Goedemoed is a lovely historic house, very comfortable, in an idyllic setting just outside Paarl. The Nikolay family welcome you into their home and nothing is too much trouble - we were invited to share a glass of wine and then driven into Paarl to go out to dinner. Many thanks to Heather and Kim for your friendliness - we had a fun stay with you and just wished we had been able to stay longer!

I agree with the Dec05 posting. Kristoff met us at the Arrivals area of Cape Town Airport and brought us to the hotel. This was at no extra charge, versus other hotels who will just “arrange” transport, and a big plus when you’re all muddled after the long trip from North America.

Kristoff is very meticulous and has a great attention to detail, which is reflected in how tastefully the rooms are laid out and appointed, and by how clean and cozy they are. You almost feel guilty to disturb the ‘feng shui’ of it all. Overall, we were given our space and privacy, but at the same time made to feel very welcome, and received the greatest degree of personalized attention of all the places we stayed during our 2-week trip around the Western Cape. Example: Coming back after dark from our first dinner in town, Kristoff had set up a little romantic table on the patio area outside our room with big, lit candles, a bottle of wine and glasses, and some chocolate. Granted, we stayed during the off-season and had the Manor House (and Paarl, it sometimes seemed) to ourselves, but don’t let the hotel chain affiliation fool you if you’re looking for a cozy, friendly, family-run style of accommodation. We were delighted with our stay.

My husband and I spent 2 nights in the Paarl Valley and at the Goedemoed Manor House and Vineyards which is indeed an 1818 Manor House and on a working vineyard.
Our arrival did find our reservation had been lost due to computor problems but luckily there was room. The hotel has only 8 rooms and comprises of the main manor house which holds the common area lounge and breakfsat room, several rooms and an adjacent row of rooms. We had a queen size bed, large bathroom, indoor sitting area, TV and looked onto our own private patio then onto the gardens and pool. From here the views of the vineyards and mountains are lovely.
The hotel is close to the mall if you need anything and mintues away from both the Paarl and Pearl Valley golf courses. Vehicle parking is next to the manor house and the gates are closed each evening. Great location. Quiet property at the end of a drive way surrounded by vineyards. Only problem is a neighbouring farmer who sets off a scaregun to scare off the birds but you get used to it.
Breakfast is served buffet style with a hot selections by order from the chef and manager, Christof, who is a delight and great to chat with. Christof's two African Ridge Back dogs are mascots and can usually be found sunning themselves in the breakfast room or on the large vine covered patio off the main house. A lovely touch
This is charming hotel and a gem. Not a 5 star but a great 4 star.
