“The perfect wedding”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

We married here on 3rd January 2013 and had the most beautiful and incredible time. Everything we wanted in our wedding was achieved. We hired the whole estate for two nights and it genuinely was perfect. All our guests who stayed here complimented the venue and the accommodation.

Some of the rooms are out of this world and the Cape Dutch style really makes the whole place feel incredibly special.

Together with our guests we lounged around the pool, had a braai under the trees and just enjoyed the grounds.

I even got a peak at 3 of the 4 nesting owls - who wisely watched us in our preparations.

The breakfasts were brilliant and the way the staff did everything to assist was just wonderful.

The beautiful surroundings, the helpful staff, the delicious food and the divine wine! Everything worked so well and we could not have been happier with our choice.

Jowine was invaluable and was so helpful in sorting out a few of the inevitable teething problems (nothing to do with Palmiet) that comes with organising such a big and important event.

The only issue we had was that we stayed in the Presidential suite (I cannot begin to even exaggerate just how big it was) and my wife felt that it was not that equipped when it came to her getting ready. There was no full length mirror and the room was rather dark. So it wasn't quite perfect in that respect. However it didn't really detract from her preparation and we have some very lovely photos of her getting ready by the big bathroom window.

If you want an intimate, special South African wedding come here.

Palmiet Vally is a truly beautiful place to stay or to be married as we were.
The scenery and surrounding landscape is breath taking and the attention to detail and service was outstanding.
The wedding package offered was first class and Jowine had every detail covered.
Glorious!!

I've just had the most amazing break away from busy city life at Palmiet Valley Estate. My husband and I stayed the whole weekend and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The location, buildings, furnishings and grounds are very refined and well maintained. The food was brilliant, especially the desserts, and the service was EXCELLENT, from very friendly people who really understand hospitality and enjoy their work.

It was such a pleasure to go somewhere so beautiful and come away so relaxed. Thank you again for this wonderful peace.

Spent a night at the wonderful Palmiet Valley Estate. A real gem! Everything of the highest standard with friendly, efficient, well trained staff. The food (dinner and breakfast) was excellent and sundowners gave us a chance to meet and chat to the other guests.
Highly recommended for a quiet, restful getaway - would go back again anyday!

45 minutes from Cape Town, perfect for a weekend getaway. What a lovely guest farm, it is serene, has beautiful grounds, some really gorgeous rooms filled with South African antiques and some rooms that are shabby chic. If you are looking for TV's radios and being entertained, this is not the place for you. If you want to relax, have lovely walks wake up to bird song and meet interesting people from all over the world around one big dining room table, please book, it is wonderful.
There are no words to decsribe the service. The staff are absolutely wonderful and NOTHING is too much effort for them. I cannot remember when last I have had such wonderful service.

Room Tip: anything with access to the garden

I certainly wasn't disappointed, however, my expectations were rather high given the five star rating. This is an absolutely stunning property comprised of vineyards, fruit trees, vegetable gardens, rolling green lawns, grand old oak trees, koi ponds, etc. I did feel that the property was in need of some TLC but that didn't take away from the wonderful experience. The staff (Jowine) was delightful and very attentive. I stayed in one of the cottages which was decorated with some very beautiful art deco pieces. The bed was extremely comfortable and made up with crisp, white linen and duvet cover. Unlucky for me, I only noticed the electric blanket on the second night and that made a world of difference as it was a rather chilly (middle of winter).

Breakfast and Dinner is served in the stately dinning room in the main house. Eating off antique crockery, and the lavish table settings really took me to pondering about the history of this establishment. Breakfast (included in the rate) was very generous with lots of choices to eat and drink. Dinner is a set menu with a few main course options. The food was tasty and well presented, however, I definitely felt the price tag was hefty at R300 per person.

Guests are invited for complimentary drinks before dinner in the loft lounge which is very comfortable with oversize leather sofas, gas fireplace (wood would be fantastic!) and a large tv screen (the tvs in the rooms are not connected to satellite and only play dvds/cds).

Kick this place up a notch or two and it very well could be worthy of it's five star tourism grading. But do go, you'll love it for it's old charm and beautiful surroundings! I'm looking forward to going back in October when I plan to spend much time at the pool and under the grand old oak trees.

Room Tip: All rooms have their own charm and decorated with beautiful antiques. Check their website for detai...

This is truly a hidden gem. As we were the only people staying at the hotel (mid-winter), we were upgraded to the honeymoon suite. The room was absolutely fantastic - beautiful antique furniture, absolute attention to detail, a modern bathroom; all very romantic. We had a look at the other rooms, and they were beautiful too. The staff were friendly, helpful. An awesome weekend, and I will definitely return.

Room Tip: The honeymoon suite adjoins a common room. It was okay for us, as the hotel was empty, but I can ima...
