Owner description: At Mellasat Vineyards we reckon we’re a bit different from the usual tasting facilities which you are used to. We have something for everyone from wine connoisseurs to the casual, everyday wine drinker. Our selection of wines varies from red wines for those cold winter days, white wines for something lighter, a moorish dessert wine as well as a delicate rosé…….. and then the most unique of them all - a White Pinotage, which is only made by us.Our tasting room has stunning views of the Paarl valley and the craggy Klein Drakenstein Mountains. We also do private functions, dinning and wine & food paring events.

Advised to pay a visit to one or two of the smaller vineyards around Paarl. So glad we did especially Mellasat. We were met by Stephen who was very warm and friendly at the same time very professional. He obviously works very hard at what he does as each wine we tasted was exceptional. He explained the make up of each bottle culminating in his production of white pinotage a real triumph. Thank you very much for spending a delightful half hour with us Stephen. We will definitely be spreading the word. Managed not to drink two of the bottles we bought. Saving them for something special. All the best Geoff & Maggie, Dougie & Lesley, West of Scotland

While the huge wine industry in South Africa is impressive, it is charming to experience the personal touch at a place like Mellasat. Winemaker, Stephen Richardson, is passionate about making wine and sharing the intricacies of his processes - particularly when it comes to his unique, and stunning, White Pinotage.

A unique feature of this winery is the Cemetery of Forgotten Wines in the new cellar under the tasting room. This provides a fascinating resting place for great old wines. On our next visit we will take a fine Aussie vintage to be remembered in this great environment.

Mellasat offers an 'experience' - not just a wine tasting. It's personal and charming.

You must try this quaint family run wine estate. Its off the beaten track and absolutely gorgeous. the wines are some of the best we tried. Myself and my partner really enjoyed the White Pinotage and had a great experience talking to Steve the owner! Thank you for a fabulous birthday tasting :)

Tasted some marvellous wines from English winemaker Stephen Richardson and loved the beauty of the location. Great stop for those looking to taste some great wines and soak up the scenery. A new wine tasting cellar just about to formally open when we visited.
