“Lovely setting, very poor service”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

I just wanted a bowl of soup, it took about half an hour to get to me once ordered, and whilst it was a nice bowl of soup, I was really not impressed with the service and length of time it took for the meal to arrive. Such a pity such a lovely place is let down by such lack luster service.

“Always our favourite”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

This is our favourite restaurant in Paarl for the last twenty years.
We always get the warmest welcome and wonderful food.
The wines are great and the setting the most beautiful you can find.
All the staff is so special, specially Felicity.
Greetings
Esme and Willeman

“Nice setting - pity about the "Tappas"”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

We are looking for a light lunch in wonderfull Paarl weather and decide on the "Tappas" menu

A singular disappointment as we took 7 different offerings which is meant to give us a good spread and taste experience.

What an experience - raw chicken kebabs, undercooked duck (and tough), prawns that were from 1990, greasy oil soaked deep fried stuff.

The service was as indifferent as the food was bad.

Best avoided.

“Mediocre picnic lunch”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

Rhebokskloof's Sunday picnic lunch doesn't come cheap (R260 a basket) so one would expect a hamper stuffed with a variety of yummy fare. The staff was friendly and we found a shady spot under a tree. The scenery was pleasant but nothing exceptional. There are far prettier wine farms in the Western Cape. Then the picnic basket arrived. What a disaster! Inside was a heap of plastic containers containing soggy spring rolls, a disgusting pasta salad with what looked like pieces of polony or vienna sausage, smoked trout on two wilted salad leaves, slices of cheapish ham and deep-fried and bland chicken breast. Dessert was tasteless chocolate brownies. A baguette, two small plates and two small paper serviettes accompanied the food. A visit to the salad bar at the local convenient store would have yielded far better produce. There wine is nothing to write home about either and is lowly rated by someone like John Platter. Rhebokskloof will never see me again.
