Thanks to Daan and his family. We had a wonderful stay for 3 nights and enjoyed it very much. A highlight is Daan's braai.

Beautiful pool area and relaxing athmosphere

From De Leeuwenhof we had a lot daytrips to Stellenbosch and Franschoek.

We highly recommend De Leeuwenhof for a stay in the Western Cape wine area.

I’ve been staying at de Leeuwenhof in Paarl for two weeks and had a great time. The room was beautiful, clean, cosy, had all the utilities I needed and the bed was exceptionally good. The property is well kept, the owners are very friendly and helpful (switching languages without any difficulties, knowing all the right places to be, etc), breakfast at the pool, a braai in the evening with yummy food and during the day do whatever you want. The location? Mountains, beaches, cities, big and small, nature, shops, all are in reach. And driving at the left side of the road seemed an adventure upfront, but wasn’t that difficult after all. No regrets whatsoever, already missing it…. Paola

We stayed 2 nights in this beautiful situated guesthouse, right between the wine yards and fruit trees. Things were better than we could have imagined or expected. Daan, the owner, made us feel 'home' immediately upon arrival and gave us great advises about where to go etc during our entire stay.

The rooms are very spacious, well decorated and clean and breakfast was more than satisfactory with fresh bread, fruit and pastries, omelettes etc. Having our own transportation, we found it a great place to explore the area from. Paarl has some very nice restaurants, but Franschhoek and Stellenbosch are easily reached by car.

We will definitely come back!

The guest house is ok, the hosts are really friendly Dutch people. It's a bit away from the town, restaurants etc but you can take a taxi to get there. The room was clean, breakfast was OK but no attention to details - no fresh bread as 'it's finished' etc... In general I would recomend Franschoek or Stellanbosh as a better place to stay than Paarl, but it was good value for the money we paid!

We kindly thank Ania for her review and we are happy she found the offered services “value for money”.
During the young couple’s stay, they joined us for an evening filling event, farm tour and wine-tasting and traditional South African open fire “braai” and it was lovely to have them.

Reviews are very important to us but also for future guests as they picture a expectancy of not only what is offered at the establishment, but also what to expect in the area and its specific highlights.

De Leeuwenhof guesthouse is situated quietly hidden in a valley outside of the village of Paarl and one needs a car-ride of 5 min to get into town or better get a taxi when one wants to do quite some wine tastings in the area. The Taxi-rates vary from 6 euro’s for a city fare from us to town, to 80 euro’s for a day trip by taxi/guide.

Paarl, an agricultural driven Town, has a lot to offer, from historical monuments, wine estates and great restaurants, to scenic drives and beautiful nature reserves, but unfortunately for some not an exorbitant night life. For that one should go to Cape-Town or Stellenbosch, so Ania advice is totally correct here.
Couples seeking a romantic and familiar hide-away on a farm/estate will not be disappointed at de Leeuwenhof and we serve a healthy/ fruity breakfast between 08 and 10.00 o’clock during which we serve fresh oven-backed croissants and small pastries and local bread.

Daan van Leeuwen Boomkamp.
Manager/owner de Leeuwenhof.

Having sent our 5 enquiries to various establishments in the Cape Winelands area, Daan was the first to respond and the only owner. This created a great first impression of prompt and efficient service.
From the minute we walked in to the minute we left, Daan & Yvonne took us under their wing and made us feel so at home.
As Guest House owners ourselves, we know the commitment that goes into owning a business in the Hospitality industry. Well being Hospitable is what they do, and they do it very well!
We were travelling with our 9 & 11 year old children and they were given the royal tour which included introductions to all the dogs, cats and resident owls. It really made them feel at ease and comfortable in new surroundings.
Thank you Daan & Yvonne (and Pedro, Sandy, Bram, Jack Russell, and Hooligan). Till we meet again:)

Room Tip: We had a two bedroom apartment. Nice little outside stoep looking over the garden. Have rated fitne...

I stayed here 1 night on business in the local area. This place has the feeling of a small oasis out in the country; beautiful big trees all around, dense foliage, and even the local Eagle Owl hooting at me from the top of the thatch roof as the sun went down. There's a certain magic here.

My room was large and luxurious with a big bathroom, large rain shower, coffee/tea making facilities, small bar fridge with drinks. Only thing missing for my personal needs at the time was a small desk to work from, but then I found the communal lounge area at the pool had what I needed and was comfortable enough to work from. Internet service was very good so no issues with communications.

Hosts Jan and Yvonne are warm hearted and attend to the needs of all guests. This place has the feel of a home you're visiting rather than commercial accommodation, and the atmosphere is immediately relaxing. I also think this is about the best value for money you can find anywhere considering what you get relative to what you pay. Highly recommended.

De Leeuwenhof is a perfect place for anyone who is planning to visit South Africa's wine country. The accommodation is perfect condition and visitors are well looked after by Daan and Yvonne. Our family (2 adults and 2 kids (6 and 8)) stayed four days and we were kindly allowed a late checkout due to a late departure. De Leeuwenhof is about a 45 mins drive from Cape Town a/p and is very easy to get to.

Room Tip: there are two apartments with a double bed room
