“Home away from home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2012

I stayed here 1 night on business in the local area. This place has the feeling of a small oasis out in the country; beautiful big trees all around, dense foliage, and even the local Eagle Owl hooting at me from the top of the thatch roof as the sun went down. There's a certain magic here.

My room was large and luxurious with a big bathroom, large rain shower, coffee/tea making facilities, small bar fridge with drinks. Only thing missing for my personal needs at the time was a small desk to work from, but then I found the communal lounge area at the pool had what I needed and was comfortable enough to work from. Internet service was very good so no issues with communications.

Hosts Jan and Yvonne are warm hearted and attend to the needs of all guests. This place has the feel of a home you're visiting rather than commercial accommodation, and the atmosphere is immediately relaxing. I also think this is about the best value for money you can find anywhere considering what you get relative to what you pay. Highly recommended.

De Leeuwenhof is a perfect place for anyone who is planning to visit South Africa's wine country. The accommodation is perfect condition and visitors are well looked after by Daan and Yvonne. Our family (2 adults and 2 kids (6 and 8)) stayed four days and we were kindly allowed a late checkout due to a late departure. De Leeuwenhof is about a 45 mins drive from Cape Town a/p and is very easy to get to.

Room Tip: there are two apartments with a double bed room

Actually, the other reviews say it all! There is not much I can add with my review.

However, I'd like to thank Dann and Yvonne for the great time we had at De Leeuwenhof in March 2012 when we stayed a few nights at this lovely place.

At our arrival we were warmly welcomed by Daan, yes, it was as shown in the video on their homepage - awesome! He told us about the history of his vineyard, showed us all the facilities like the pool, dining room, terrace - and for sure our room. All the details, the comfortable bed, the atmosphere in the room, the cleaniness, everything made us feel very comfortable during our stay.

Yvonne and Daan gave us good advise where to go for diner etc. Daan told us a lot about the background why he and his family moved from the Netherlands to ZA (I asked him for the details as I was very interested in the wineyard, how to operate it, why the family moved over, how they feel after beeing a few years there and so on and so forth). What I just want to point out is that one feels very comfortable at this guesthouse, the landlords took care of the well-being of every single guest and so on. Once we come back to ZA, we will for sure stop at this great place.

Please keep this good service and remain as you are!

I had the pleasure of staying at De Leeuwenhof Guesthouse in July 2012 and experienced hospitality at its best.

The spacious room was spotlessly clean, the linen and bed were of the highest quality and I probably had the best nights rest in a very long time.

The meals were tasty and my dietary requirements catered for and the family went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

I can definitely recommend this establishment and look forward to my next visit!

De Leeuwenhof was the place we picked to stay for a conference held recently in Paarl. Less than 10 minutes from the Paarl city-centre during "rush hour", and just off the N1, the guesthouse was easy to get to and easy to use as a springboard for everything else we had to do.

The owners and staff were friendly without being intrusive, and we felt perfectly safe, comfortable, and at ease. After a particularly cold day at the conference, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the underfloor heating and airconditioning had been switched on in each of our rooms already.

The wi-fi was super-fast for accessing e-mails and office server documents (compared to other conference-goers who didn't even have internet / cellphone reception where they were staying!). Every morning we were treated to a hearty breakfast, freshly-made juice (from the orchards) and a quick chat with the owners - everything from renewable energy, sustainable and responsible living, family history to local happenings - you name it and Daan knows something about it!

We didn't have enough time to explore the farm or the rest of the beautiful Paarl, but when I return to do so, de Leeuwenhof will be one of my first stops!

Yet again I had a wonderful stay at de Leeuwenhof. After my visit last year I was determined to come back to this beautiful part of the country. The luxury room is tastefully and warm decorated, it shows that it's all about the details at de Leeuwenhof, there even was lavender on my pillow on arrival. The kind host and friendly staff made my stay very pleasant. If you are looking for a B&B in the winelands which instantly gives you the relaxed vacation feeling where you don't have to worry about a thing, look no futher!

As for the wonderful location that this establishment is situated in, I had a fantastic time with family and friends. Location and buildings are beautiful, staff is very friendly and helpful. Very warm and home like atmosphere and definitely a recommended Guest House in the Wine Lands region.
