A very warm welcome on arrival set the scene for a great couple of nights. The accommodation is lovely and the food is excellent both at breakfast and the optional dinner. Love the local wine!

The farm trip by Bartel, the owner, is absolutekly fascinating and very well worth getting up early to do. (Ask how to tell genuine Ostrich leatjher from the fake stuff and buy from them direct - the saving is worthwhile!)

Its a great base to explore from and a lovely place to go back to for a relaxing hour by the pool before dinner. The staff are great and so is the value for money.

Room Tip: Face the open farm land if at all possible.

Despite La Plume being a little bit away from the town centre we found it easily off the motorway. As it was my husband's birthday they had upgraded us - the room was beautiful and it was a real treat. We didn't eat in the hotel as we were slightly abushed by having to decide whether we would be joining them for dinner as soon as we arrived and without a menu or price. In general the atmosphere is relaxed and the grounds beautiful. Breakfast was good the following morning - although not overly personal the service was generally good and the room was great. The only downside was the lack of ostriches!

Located in a very remote quite area a little out of town. The house if gorgeous with lots of lovely antique furniture that really takes you back to what it must have been like at the turn of the last centuary. We were greeted with a welcome drink and taken across the road to a separate cottage that has just been revamped. Ooddles of space, with a nice private back garden overlooking fields (felt like I was in Kent in the summer time). The food was great (you have to try the ostrich they serve - tastes great). Very friendly and a nice place to stay it you want some piece and quiet.

Room Tip: If you are travelling as a family the little cottage across form the main guest house is a great opt...

La Plume recaptures well the style that it must have enjoyed in its Edwardian heyday. Rooms are furnished with a mixture of original and repro furniture from the era (including ostrich leather upholstery - natch) and there's free port in every room. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom facilities very up-to-date, with a walk-in shower as well as Victorian style pedestal bath. The garden is pleasant but the pool small (and wasn't cleaned while we were there over Christmas).

We ate in the first night, which was convenient, and the ostrich steak was very good, though the rest of the food was not up to the same quality. Breakfast too was OK, but not top rate. Service was fine and we overall had a pleasant stay.

After a long drive from cape town we were met by the picturesque site of la plume guest house. It's stunning setting was complemented by the friendliness of the staff. The room was spacious and delightfully furnished. The food was great and I fully recommend the ostrich fillet.
