I found the service to be very professional and the guide was great. His knowledge was extensive and accurate. The curio shop was a bit expensive for a direct farm purchase. It is clear that many of the goods had been there for along time. They need some retail consulting at this farm. Also the tour needs some technology to make the experience memorable. Still a good place to visit.

Thank you for your review ! I am pleased you found the guided tour to be pleasant and educational. We focus on allowing our visitors to get close to the ostriches whilst explaining why we farm with them and therefore provide lots of opportunities to interact with the birds. Safari Ostrich Farm's Gift Shop has the largest selection of Ostrich Leather products in South Africa from high fashion handbags to ostrich leather key-rings. We make sure to have a variety of items for our clients to choose from to make sure there is something that will appeal to everyone.

We last visited this farm 7 years ago. Something for all the family. We felt that the tour which you are taken on has been vastly improved. You begin with the incubation of the Ostrich, their feathers etc. Then taken through the Ostrich's natural environment. Being encouraged to ask as many questions as you wish. Finishing with a chance to touch and sit on the Ostrich, as long as it is not too hot. Care is taken for the Ostrich not to be involved in the racing which is carried out at the end of the tour, again if not to hot. Be warned if coming from the coast this area is a good 10% hotter.

Thank you for your review ! We made some extensive changes to our guided tour from the last time you visited. I am glad to hear you fancy the changes we have implemented. We appreciate the feedback we get from our visitors (including tripadvisor reviews) and used some of these ideas to make our tour as inter-active and personal as we can. We have re-designed parts of the farm tour and placed a lot of focus on engaging the visitor with a tactile experience whereby you are involved in the tour and get a more in-depth understanding of ostrich farming. Thank you for your visit and feedback.

Nice place for tourists. Prices are very high for souvenirs, although it is very interesting to do the tour. We did not go to the restaurant but it seemed very nice and neat.

With a nagging teenager wanting to ride an Ostrich, we visited Safari Ostrich Show Farm and joined a tour. We learnt a lot from our guide, Juan, that also answered all questions patiently. The highlight was sitting on an Ostrich and then the ride. It was over very quickly and I am sad that they did not warn me when the bird would be released to make sure that I was ready with the camera to capture this for my son. A great once-off experience for the family. The curio shop is very, very expensive and I think more aimed at international tourists than local South Africans.

Thank you for your review ! Ostriches are the fastest two-legged animals in the world and can run at speeds of up to 80km per hour. They are very fast and from a standing-still position their acceleration is impressive. I will ask our guides to warn our visitors to have their cameras ready before the person starts the riding. Ostrich leather is the 3rd strongest in the world and therefore very durable. Ostrich leather is expensive because it is exotic and will last a life-time. We also stock many other curio items at very reasonable prices. Thank you for your visit and feedback.

This farm is both a working ranch and set up for visitors. You see and learn a lot about these big birds (who knew) and can even ride one. The history of the feather business is well explained and there is a mansion dating to the feather craze in the 1890s. The restaurant, featuring ostrich meat is superb.

Thank you for your review ! Oudtshoorn is the ostrich capitol of the world ; for here commercial ostrich farming started more than a 130 years ago. Safari Ostrich Farm is one of only a few ostrich farms that has a "Feather Palace" ,that dates back to the beginning of the industry, on our property. Today a National Monument, it serves as a reminder of the riches once associated with the "feather boom". Thank you for your visit and feedback.
