Early 20th Century guest house set in very pretty gardens and a calm, relaxing place to stay. The staff were helpful and readily provided a map of the town plus recommendations for restaurants and local attractions. The breakfast was very good and plentiful. We only were in Oudtshoorn for one night to didn't have much time to explore the area much or use their pool!
If we return we would definitely stay at Adley House again.

The grounds of Adley House were simply breath-taking. Garden surrounding was great for my kids to run in and beautiful-in-bloom for Kodak moments. Every turn and every corner in the house, you’ll be greeted by old English charm and flowers freshly cut from their very own garden. The staffs that ran this place were very friendly and helpful. As there was only 1 other guest that evening, my kids and I played hide and seek around the house. Only word of caution though, is that the various rugs strewn on the floor were not toddler-friendly: my daughter tripped over them more than once. The neighbourhood feels friendly and safe. Upon recommendation, we went to Spurs for dinner as they have a playground for the kids while the adults too our time to eat. Breakfast was a delightful setup semi-outdoors: just outside the house but in the shade; the weather was perfect (sunny but cool), food was delicious and we couldn’t ask for a more perfect setting.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms in the main building are gorgeous. I know cos I peaked.

We stayed at Adley House again on our return to Oudtshoorn and the Little Karoo. Having spent a hot day in the area, the beautiful garden and a cold beer was still a most welcoming sight. The room and bathroom were still lovely roomy and well kept.
And the breakfast ... still the best we've had in SA.

Now we know that Adley House has a policy to keep the high standard at a premium and we will always be assured of a lovely place to stay.

The large house is really beautiful, and the rooms on the side (where we slept) are just fine. Nothing really special, but no issues as well. So no comments on that.
However, the owner makes this a terrible place to stay! When we left, we wanted to pay by credit card (which is possible), but the system at the hotel was down. We were there for over 20 minutes to keep on trying (also with several credit cards). At the end the receptionist wrote down our personal information and credit card number (to try again later) and we left to travel on. This all went in harmony. That is, until we got a call from the (male) owner of this place about two hours later. From the start he was angry that we had left and accused us of giving a false credit card number at the counter. He was really very disrecpectful of us and yelled over the phone. At the end it turned out that the receptionist had written down one number of the credit card wrongly. We received no excuses or whatsoever from him.
This is what I call a terrible way of communicating with your customers. We will never return here due to this. And I would NOT recommend this place if you like to be treated respectful.

The main house exhuded the charm of a past era. We had a most warm welcome from Hilda who clearly enjoys sharing her beautiful home with visitors. We had a room in the annexe which was very comfortable. As for the breakfast, taken on the verandha it was without doubt the best we had during our South Africa holiday.

We stayed 3 nights at Adley House in room #8 (a family room) inside the house. The room is big and separated with curtain between the 2 bedding areas. The back door opens to an open back yard which we like it very much. We always sit at this area for playing and having snacks.

The hotel is near the centre but walking distance about 15 minutes. Shantel, the staff, is very very friendly and can recommend us good place for dinner.

We like best - big nice room with open back yard

We like least - Even though there are 2 pools, but the pools are quite small
- We like to sleep without air-conditioners because it was quite cool, and there were some mosquitoes inside the room.

We arrived late afternoon and were greeted by a very friendly girl who settled us in. Our room was large and equipped with everything you might need for the stay.
The bathrooms in particular were well kept and clean.
Having tea in the garden is one of the experiences I really liked. The garden is beautiful and has two swimming pools which is so nicely hidden, a babe with a big bottom like myself can easily enjoy.
The staff is very friendly and yes ... it is all true what I've heard about the breakfast ... it is truly unbelievable!
If you like old-world charm with modern facilities where you will be well fed ... then Adley House is the place for your stay.
