We were staying at 88 BVR and so we ate here because it was within staggering distance and because it gets good crits on Trip Advisor.
We were not disappointed. The decor is funky...it's not like other restaurants in so much as the place mat was a 78 record of The Andrews Sisters.
We had the Ostrich Carpaccio, Salmon Rosti, Lamb Shank and Ostrich kebabs. It came with an excellent bottle of wine and the bill didn't break the bank.
We'd been there earlier in the day for a coffee in the front garden and that was a very relaxing mid morning break.
There are many restaurants in Oudtshoorn all serving similar food so it's good to find one that's a bit different, walking distance from the B&B and good value.
We'll be back.

Such a lovely spot and cute decor! Real old antiques that they have used clever all over the place! Loved the coppper tea pots and fine porcelein tea cups! Lovely breakfast with "krummel pap en sous"!

You should definitely give it a try. The name is very proper for this very delightful place. We had dinner ostrich steak with potato. It was simply delicious. The staff is very friendly obliging. The Restaurant has tons of charm. The inside is decorated like a living room in the 60ties. We really liked this place for what it is and wouldn't change a thing.

We were shown to our table on the corner of the colonial style veranda under the branches of the large tree in the garden which screened us from the busy main road. The delightful young waitress was attentive to our needs and served us with some of the best food we ate during our five weeks in South Africa. The menu is African with a good choice and absolutely delicious. Every thing about our dining experience was carried out efficiently yet totally unhurried and with pride. Prices are very reasonable and wines and portions are very good. We wished we had dined here first and would definitely go back. The sense of relaxation was wonderful.

Nostalgie is situated in a charming, old house and as you walk through the front gate you step back in time. They have a selection of eats and treats for any time of the day. Breakfast can be really rustic with Krummelpap and sauce or quite modern with Flapjacks and bacon.Their homemade Chicken pies are a must order and their cake selection is good - my favourite is the syrupy chocolate cake with cream. You can take the Nostalgie experience home to savour later by buying biscuits, fudge or rusks from the shelves. You can even buy a gift or two that reflects days gone by.
