I always make Oudtshoorn one of my important stops due to the owners of 88@ Baron van Rheede Guesthouse. You can expect being treated like a king, cleanliness, excellent service, having the best breakfast ever and dining next door at Jemima's. It's a TREAT!!!! Thank you again Zoe and Huw and all the best for 2011!!!!Cant wait for my next holiday!!!

Regards
Christo

My wife and I stayed here in late November. We actually chose it after reading some very positive reviews on trip advisor. I never usually write reviews for the places we stay but feel compelled to do so in this case so that others may happen across this wonderful place as we did.

The building itself is a beautiful old sandstone villa set back off the main tourist road in town. The rooms are clean and well appointed and are currently in the process of being updated. There are lots of quiet areas to sit back and relax, each of the main rooms having its own veranda.

The main draw card of the place is the fantastic friendly service from Huw and Zoe who have been running the place for the last year. They are both incredibly helpful, with lots of great advice of places to visit and things do to in the local area. Also they are just great people who felt like friends we never knew we had. We came intending to stay for one night but ended up staying for three.

We found ‘88 Baron van Reede Guesthouse’ to be a beautiful guesthouse, where the rooms were extraordinary neat, comfortable and well appointed, with all necessary amenities and with secure off street parking. This place is nice, cozy and gives a very homely feeling. The owners (Zoë & Huw) are wonderful people, who go out of their way to make you comfortable and are more than happy to share and give you tips on the itinerary. The breakfast served was very laid and sumptuous. Also the Guesthouse is well located and all the eateries are walking distance.
Oudtshoorn is a beautiful town and you will get to see the Ostrich in plenty. Although we stayed only for one night, but it is definitely a place where 2-3 days or longer can be spent. We visited one of the Ostrich Safari (recommended by Huw) and it was a very nice experience. We also drove through the Swartberg Pass and returned via Meiringspoort De Rust route, which is so very beautiful and is a must do when in Oudshoorn. (although its a 4-5 hrs drive).
I would recommend this B&B to anyone traveling to or through Oudtshoorn and I am sure you will like it.

We stayed a night at 88 Baron von Reede and cant recommend it highly enough. Zoe & Huw were amazing hosts from the minute we arrived until the minute we left. Having hosts who were prepared to sit down and help you out with local knowledge so you could maximise your time in the area was fantastic - this even came down to booking restaurants for us - nothing was too much for them to assist us.
The facilities around the guesthouse as well as the rooms themselves were fantastic - nothing could really be faulted. Highly recommended place to stay

We had an excellent stay for two nights at 88 Baron van Reede and were looked after very well by Huw & Zoe. We arrived late in the evening but that was not a problem and Zoe provided us with a variety of menu's for local restaurants and helped us find some excellent places to eat. Breakfast was great - a variety of cereals as well as cooked breakfast, good tea & lots of coffee! Zoe & Huw were excellent hosts, both very attentive thoughout our stay and gave us various tips on places to visit which made our trip even more enjoyable.
