We stayed at 88BVR for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon in South Africa. Huw and Zoe were easily the most welcoming hosts we encountered, greeting us with drinks, details on what to do around Oudtshoorn and where to eat and drink.

The guest house is ideally situated, within walking distance of a number of excellent restaurants and the town itself. It's also on the main road leading to Buffelsdrift Lodge (great for an evening meal while the hippos laze in the dam), Cango Caves, Swartbeg Pass, ostrich farms and a vineyard.

We stayed in a Verandah room which was well furnished, comfortable, clean and had the best showers you could ask for! Breakfast was also superb with a wide choice of food and lovely fresh coffee.

If you're going to Oudtshoorn, make sure you stay at 88BVR as you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I spent 2 nights at 88BvR. I can see now why this guesthouse is number 1 on tripadvisor not only because of the accomodation but the wonderful friendly hosts who make you feel so at home. We were welcomed with a drink which was just what we needed after our long drive. Huw spent time giving us tips of what to do and where to go in order for us to make the most of our stay in the area.

We had one of the verandah rooms which was spacious, comfortable and clean with the added bonus of satellite TV in the room (my husband was ecstatic). There is secure parking and the location is great as it is within walking distance of good local restaurants, shops and church. It is on the road that leads you to the main attractions such as Cango Caves, Ostrich Farm and Buffelsdrift which is really worth a visit. We only called into Buffelsdrift for lunch but while we sitting eating our delicious food we managed to view the 3 elephants drinking from the dam, Hippos popping up out of the water and a herd of Wildebeast on the other side of the dam - it was wonderful.
Breakfasts were great with lots of choice and fresh coffee on tap. The main house's decor and furnishings are wonderful and in keeping with the building. Huw and Zoe are so helpful and genuine that I wish them every success with their lovely guesthouse.

We stayed here one night and wow what a fantastic bed and breakfast! I can not say enough about the owners/hosts Hugh and Zoe. They are absolutely wonderful and fantastic hosts. We were made very comfortable and they took care of our every need especially since we were traveling with a 15 month old. The rooms were tastefully decorated and very nice. The breakfast was also excellent. But, beyond how nice the bed and breakfast was, the best part was talking to and spending time with Hugh and Zoe, they offered insight into the area, gave an excellent recommendation for dinner, and were very helpful. We wish every bed and breakfast was as nice as this one

The best thing about this guest house is the welcome: as soon as we were arrived we were offered drinks and given tips of how best to make the most of our time in Outdshoorn. Zoe was terrific at making a reservation at a nearby restaurant (this was after she had provided us with menus for a selection of local establishments) and gave us tips on the best route to take on our departure the following day.

The second best thing about the guest house is the location: it is quiet, but very close to the town centre and within spitting distance of some fantastic restaurants (Jemima's is awesome!)

The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable, but are more reflective of the amount you pay per night (hence the four star rating, rather than a five star rating).

Overall: A big thumbs up and would definitely stay here again.

The B&B is situated within walking distance to great quality restaurants and cafes. Parking is available inside the property. This B&B is lovely and the owners are a delight to chat to and really make you feel at home. The room was comfortable, airy and cleaned daily. A delicious breakfast is served in a bright and cozy dining room; it's just what you need for the day ahead. The owners recommendations on sights and activities suited us perfectly and we found everything to be a short drive away.
