The location of this lodge is amazing, one of the most beautiful sunsets I can imagine. The food was great, and the service was good, the waiters were helpful and friendly.

We stayed at B&B in Oudtshoorn and came here for dinner one night. It was dark already when we arrived so we didn't get to see any action in the watering hole/pond area, but it was still a nice place to sit and nice atmosphere during our dinner. I was worried that the zoo-like enclosed "game lodge" would be hokey and overcommercialized but it was pretty nice. I still wouldn't go for game viewing because it isn't "real" enough, but it was a nicely appointed resort and restaurant.

I had the ostrich steak and my husband had the venison. They were both delicious and cooked perfectly, with delicious sides. It was one of the more expensive meals we had in South Africa, but still affordable! The dessert was disappointing - my creme brulee was cold and not tasty at all. They had local bottles of wine that we tried that were quite good. They gave us samples of each to try (after we asked) so we could pick the one we liked. The service was excellent.

The restaurant at Buffelsdrift offers delidious salads and main courses. The prices are fair but be warned that a starter could easily be enough for an average person. The location on the edge of a large lake with Hippo and other wildlife is amazing. We loved it!

Came here for lunch, such a beautiful setting and good value menu that we returned later on for sun downers and to watch the hippo's feed. Unfortunately the hippo's didn't show up but we had an amazing encounter feeding elephants and saw other game. Don't know about the accommodation but would definitely advise coming here for the day.
