“A decent place”
Reviewed January 11, 2014

Oudtshoorn isnt much of a tourist place i felt. You have vineyards, Congo caves and ostrich farms to visit here... considering that there are just a few hotels in here. Turnberry we felt was one of the better ones. Nice cozy rooms, a swimming pool, tv, wifi and all basic amenities were present in the room. There is a separate bar room for those who need. Staff was good.

Thanks for your feedback. Oudtshoorn is considered one of the main tourism centres in rural South Africa, with activities such as Cango Caves & 4 Ostrich Show Farms, where you can see, learn about & ride ostriches (both ranked in the Top 10 things to do in South Africa on South African Tourism’s website) as well a huge variety of activities such as the Cango Wildlife Ranch, Meerkat Adventures, Outdoor Adventure Experiences, Scenic Drives, Historical Buildings, Museums, Ballooning, Game Drives, Elephant riding & feeding, Hiking Trails, Cycling Trails, Wine Farms, Horse Trails, Nature Reserves, Waterfalls, and many, many more. Oudtshoorn welcomes about 1 million tourists per year to our many activities, sporting and cultural events. I am sorry that you did not find it touristy, I am proud to say we have everything a tourist could possible want to do, expect a beach!

This was a really nice friendly hotel. When we arrived on the afternoon of New Years Eve we asked if it was possible to book an evening meal with them. There was no problem with this & we enjoyed a fabulous African themed barbeque. Breakfast was great the next day with plenty of choice & so nice to sit outside to eat.

Good points: friendly and efficient staff, good food, comfortable beds, well located, lots of parking, well priced
Bad points: very noisy aircon, leaking aircon, bugs killed in bathroom but not cleaned up.
We would certainly return here for another visit.

The hotel was a great find and we had a pleasant 2-night stay here. We were travelling with a puppy and hence needed pet friendly accomodation. What we didnt expect was a luxurious pet friendly place! Since we were 3 adults, we were given a luxury suite that had a main bedroom and a lounge with a sofa bed. Both rooms were carpeted - which is not the case in most pet friendly hotels. We werent complaining! The only problem was, they didnt have any place to walk the dog or allow her to do her business. We had to walk her outside the hotel.

Breakfast was included in the room rent and was a nice buffet spread with fresh fruits, juices, choice of eggs, etc.

The rooms were clean but very small. Also if a room on the upper floor is allocated it is not a pleasant experience lugging heavy bags up the stairs. But as a one night stop over hotel it is fine. Enough parking place, good breakfast and lots of restaurants close by.
