“Great food”
Reviewed August 26, 2012

Everything about this restaurant was excellent - food, atmosphere and service. We chose the restaurant based on the recommendations of a number of locals (at our guest house and at Cango Safari Ranch). The staff were friendly and provided great service. It was a cold evening and we ate in the front section of the restaurant near a heater - very cosy!

I had the Ostrich and my husband had the trilogy of meats and both of our meals were cooked to perfection. I also had the Meringue Tower which was just delicious - simply melted in my mouth. The cost of our meal including wine was 480 RAD which we felt was OK for such a great meal.

“Charming and good food”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

Very relaxing setting with variety of rooms, we ate in a room where son was pleased to find some Asterix books to read! Good food and seemed to be popular with locals which is always a good sign.

“Tasty and homely!”
Reviewed August 17, 2012

We sat in the eclectic back room with its walls of shelves of books and paraphernalia - it was like eating a stylish, shabby chic home! The food (univerally steaks for our group) was excellent, as was the wine. Fortunately, we didn;t have far to stumble back to our guesthouse (the excellent 88 Baron van Reede guesthouse, which is practically next door)!

“Pricey but worth the experience”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

Did the European thing of walking the street of restaurants and looking at their menu's before deciding where to eat. Ambiance superb, typically South African ie informal and homely. Food was not fussy but had touches of thought added to well known fare. In all it was a good meal that filled and also delighted. You can always tell that with us, because we give tastings to each other, which we did all night.
Price R719 (without tip) which we think is pricey but, if we we were in Oudtshoorn again for a dining experience, we would return. and that's the sign of a satisfied patron!

“Delightfully Quirky and Excellent Food”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

Jemima's was recommend to us by a tour guide we got talking to on a boat in Knysner Bay. We were not disappointed. We found the restaurant totally excellent in every way. Food was great. Delightfully rustic quirky atmosphere and great service from Frank the manager.
Expensive? Probably is for rural South Africa but we are used to overpriced food in the UK so it seemed pretty reasonable to us
