“Great light lunch option”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

This restaurant (more a bistro) shares space with a deli that sells tempting home-made breads and croissants, as well as produce from the area. Also on display are some of chef-owner Franc Dangereux's selected wines at friendly prices.

The menu focuses on light meals such as salads, filled ciabatas, lamb burgers (hand-made and sensitively seasoned with fresh herbs), and fresh fish of the day when available. All out dishes were pronounced very good, except for the green salad which was doused in a rather too vinegary vinaigrette dressing.

We didn't have any of the sweet options, but the after-dinner coffees were good (an item sadly neglected at many Cape Town restaurants).

“Great Lunch Venue”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

The selections change daily, and whatever is on the menu they will alter and adapt for you anyway! The food is fresh and yummy. From tapas to enourmous value for money sandwhiches.

The atmosphere is really buzzy, as it has the Deli in there too. The whole feel of the place is spot on, and makes me wish I lived locally to shop and eat there every weekend!

And the coffee was soooo good, best coffee on the cape!

“Foodbarn is Excellent”
Reviewed December 22, 2012

This is one of several restaurants at the village, so be sure to ask for the Foodbarn, on your right as you drive in. Great overall experience and good value for $$$.

“Interesting Light Lunch stop”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

We spent a relaxed hour or so there with friends recently. The location at the end of Chapman's Peak drive is great, the village concept attractive. The Deli offered a short but reasonable menu, the slasds selection looked better than it tasted, in particular they ruined the artichoke option by bathing it in a very sour vinegar based dressing.

“There are 3 restaurants: Cafe Roux, Foodbarn Deli and Foodbark French Restaurant.”
Reviewed August 13, 2012

All very good restaurants, all pet and kids friendly and very good food. Deli best for breakfast, Cafe Roux good for lunch and the Foodbarn (French restaurant) great for French food and Deli awesome for tappas.
