Thanks Jenni and Rob for a great 8 days.

While situated in suburbs it was still secluded enough to give us a great place to just lie back and relax.
Apart from the occasional phone call or visit we never saw Rob or Jenni, so there was no intrusion what so ever and were left to our own device.
The rooms where lovely apart from a few cosmetic things (not putting in a description of the rooms, because they are exactly as described on their website). I say rooms because we had 2. Our first was the Garden room, but unfortunately the very last night of our stay, the room was already booked, but Jenni suggested moving us to one of the other suites, which was fine by us. As an inconvenience (not that it was) for doing this we were given the suite for that night free of charge. Yip, free for the inconvenience, very few places would do that, and this sums how Jenni and Rob are as people and what sort of holiday they provide you, absolutely fantastic.

Small things that count : During our stay we had postcards that needed to be posted and laundry that needed doing, all of which Jenni arranged to be done. She collected and delivered them back to us, so we didn’t have to worry about that at all, we could just set off at dawn to do our tourist thing and not worry about.

We didn’t get to use the pool, as it was just a little bit to cold to use it in the evening or early morning and we weren’t around during the day if it happened to be sunny outdoors, but did look very inviting all the same.
The place is a short drive from Cape Town which we preferred, so weren’t near the city, and is also very close when going off to Cape Point, Simons Town (where you can see whales and we did) Boulders, Chapmans peak, World of Birds, Wine Estates, go walking on the mountain , and that’s all within 20min from where they are situated. There is a shopping mall 5 miniutes away where you can either eat out or do your own shopping and cook something back at the suite.

In a previous reviews someone complained about dogs barking, which as it’s in the suburbs you will get, but we didn’t have any of that in the evening during our stay, we did hear it during the day, but then during the day, who cares.
They also complained about steep steps, been built on a hillside you will get steep steps, but we didn’t find this any different to some of the places we have stayed at in Spain, so don’t see what the problem was.

All in all in it was a fantastic stay and couldn't thank Jenni enough for it..

Room Tip: The more expensive rooms had a little more to offer, something we would probably do next time. First...

We stayed a week at the African Violet and regretted very much having to leave at the end... The location is fantastic. By car you can go for easy day trips to all the mayor sights on the cape pensinula and the hosts are very helphull in giving you directions, making restaurant reservations and giving you insider tips on what to do. But you do not leave the African Violet to get in the Holiday mood. The suites are light and pleasant and well equipped with beautifull bathrooms, great towels and nicely smelling toilettries. Spending a day at the pool and having Rob to light the BBQ for you in the evening so that you can sip a glass of great local wine, watch the beautifull scenery and cook your own meal - all these possibilities make the African Violet a place where I definitely want to return in the future.

Room Tip: the terrace suite has a fantastic terrace with a small but beautiful pool

The property has fantastic views of the mountains and the distant Atlantic and is ideally situated to visit the nature reserve, Kommetjie and Noordhoek beaches which are spectacularly wild and beautiful.

The accommodation was excellent and the hosts (and their delightful family) were exceptionally kind and helpful.

We will be back.

When we came to the African Violet hotel we felt like in paradise. Jenni (the owner) is such a friendly lady, she helped so much by organizing safari trip for us and her warm personality made our stay feel very comfortable. Rooms are pleasingly decorated with blossom flavour and intimate, joyful illumination. you have all nessesary things, that you need for pleasant rest (kitchen, all bath stuff, pool...) Subtle, alluring and unforgettable view on mountains and charming dusk. Days there are one-of-a-kind, full of pleasure and joy, that you want to memorize to the rest of your life. If i could, i would definitely come back there again!

During November 2011, a group of us (5 ladies) stayed at African Violet Guesthouse in Noordhoek. From the moment we began making arrangements, the owners, Rob and Jenni, were so helpful and accommodating of our needs. As soon as we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Jenni and shown to our accommodation.

It was a weekend away to celebrate our dear friend who is about to get married, and we wanted a quiet and tranquil environment to reflect back on the years of our friendships. The perfect place for this was a relaxing evening down at the pool as the sun set around us.

The rooms are all spacious and tastefully decorated. The bathrooms, especially in the Loft Suite, are gorgeous. Jenni has maintained a beautiful garden, and there is also a lovely deck and braai area, perfect for those lazy evenings.

Definitely one to re-visit!

We had the pleasure of staying in the Courtyard Suite at African Violet for 3 nights. The suite contained all we could have wanted during our stay - plus a lot more. The attention to detail in the rooms and comforts that are provided definitely make this a favourite stay in the Cape.

I look forward to visiting again and can highly recommend African Violet to anyone looking for a beautiful vacation or weekend break.

Warm regards, Divan van der Merwe

The Garden Studio was an ideal choice for our 'weekend getaway'...an intimate, immaculate and pleasingly decorated suite nestled away on a hilltop with an amazing view! Our host's warm and friendly persona added to the charm of this delightful place...thank you Jenni:-)
