“A little taste of paradise”
Reviewed April 9, 2010

Located in (the suburb of) Paradise, this hotel had a lot to live up to. It achieved this because it truly was amazing - a real show home with white marble floors and designer furniture.

Our room was stunning, along with the view from our balcony.

Owners Bianca and Ross were as glamorous as their house. They were incredibly welcoming, full of bright ideas on what to do in the area and recommended brilliant places to eat (Bramon Vineyard, a cafe on the Kynsna headland, and an Italian restaurant)!

Breakfast was great and they also cater for food during the day. There was also an honesty bar. The staff were superb; they did some laundry for us and returned it in a matter of hours, they kept the house looking spotless and we even discovered that they had cleaned our rental car before breakfast.

It was expensive (certainly the most expensive of the 5 places we stayed), but well worth the extravagance if you wanted to treat yourself. I would love to go back!

We stayed at Villa Afrikana for two nights and it was pure luxury. Our hosts were terrific and were especially good at taking the trouble to arrange reservations, organise tours and answer all our questions. Our room was fantastic - clean, spacious, modern and tastefully decorated and we would love to visit again.

A very stylish, modern, light, bright hotel with exceptionally tasteful decor. Quite a twisting, turning route up steep hills to get here (a car is needed unless you want to use taxis), however it is well worth it as the views are fantastic - looking right out over the lagoon and across to Knysna Heads. The breakfast served on your own private balcony is great and Ross and Bianca are very welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts. We look forward to returning.

We wish we stayed here longer, especially as our next stop was Port Elizabeth and a little disappointing compared to Knysna and the Villa Afrikana. The rooms are very clean, modern and simple but classic in style. You are made to feel welcome from the moment you drive up the very steep driveway, by the warm smile of Bianca. You are shown to your room and have a peaceful night sleep, but the bonus is the breakfast delivered to your Suite and the spectacular views from your balcony. We stayed in the Noetzie suite but from what I hear all rooms are beautiful.
Thanks Magda & Liston

This is an ultra modern establishment – with service to match.
We were well looked after – and on our last night had dinner at sunset in the restaurant with the best view in Knysna – our balcony.
We enjoyed the breakfasts on our balcony as well.

Our three night stay at Villa Afrikana was perfect - from arrival to our departure. The hospitality, service, and accommodations are first class. Thank you Bianca and Ross, and also to your excellent staff, for a memorable stay. Ren and John (Jamaica).

Of course a "guesthouse" in South Africa is a bit of misnomer if you are British as these sorts of places are nothing like what that word conjures up in your mind. Villa Afrikana is a beautiful and stylish guesthouse up on the hill overlooking the lagoon in Knysna. Great views but you do need a car to get here (as well as good brakes for the steep drive) as there are not a lot of amenities close by. You really felt like you were in someone's fabulously decorated home and the hospitality and helpfulness of Rossano and Bianca was very much appreciated. A great stay for a couple of days, we would definitely return and next time we hope to get better weather!
