“The best guesthouse we have stayed in during our West Cape trip.”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

Back home in the Netherlands and looking back our wonderfull trip we definitely found our visit to Knysna and to Amanzi Lodge as one of the highlights of our vacation. The combination of the beautiful location of Amanzi Lodge on the Lagoon, the peaceful ambience, the service and the continuous attention for the guests made our stay very pleasant.

Room Tip: The rooms situated at the groundfloor, overlooking the Lagoon, are very recommendable.

Everything about our stay here was perfect and exceeded all our expectations. We stayed for six nights but would have happily stayed for longer. The location was wonderful, the lodge was really comfortable with such a relaxed ambience that it felt like a home from home. Our room was beautifully decorated and designed to make the most of the stunning views, whether from the bed or the bath! There were also lots of lovely touches in the room which were thoughtful and appreciated such as a supply of books, magazines, tea lights & matches etc. Pretty much everything had been thought of to make the room a joy to spend time in. The lodge has a fantastic supply of books and guides to the local area and we were also given plenty of helpful tips & suggestions to help us plan our days. In fact the hardest thing was choosing between sightseeing and just spending time at the lodge where we found it so easy to completely relax. Most of all we could not have asked for more hospitable or helpful hosts, Helen, Sue and Margaret you were just fantastic. And not to forget the breakfasts, these were absolutely the best we had anywhere during our trip with lots of delicious healthy options set out buffet style as well as the usual cooked options which always arrived cooked to perfection and just as requested. We had an amazing time in South Africa and stayed at some spectacular places but honestly this was the one place we would return to and we would not hesitate to recommend it.

We stayed in the Amanzi Lodge in March and had the most wonderful time. The warm hospitality of Helen, Sue and Margaret was exceptional and made our visit all the more special. The Lodge is situated at the most idyllic location, overlooking the lagoon which you can swim in, kayak in, etc. Helen, Sue and Margaret provided us with the most wonderful walking recommendations - Robberg and then Nature's Valley - stopping off at Emily Moon for a delicious sushi lunch. The room was airy and spacious (with a his and hers bathroom - bliss!!) with the most amazing balcony overlooking the lagoon - which you could see from the bed. The breakfast was by far the best we had - served on the balcony overlooking the lagoon. This was definitely the best B&B we have stayed in and can't wait to visit again.

Room Tip: Room 3 was wonderful overlooing the lagoon

We stayed at Amanzi Lodge in February for 3 nights, one of which was my birthday. What a fantastic place to spend a special time. The Lodge is beautifully located on the lagoon, is clean and modern but retaining a calm and peaceful ambience. Our room was huge and beautifully decorated and furnished with two bathrooms! Helen, Sue and Margaret were welcoming and a mine of information regarding local restaurants and activities. They suggested a local restaurant for my birthday meal and it couldn't have been a better suggestion. The evening was wonderful and we'll never forget it.

Room Tip: Rooms with a lagoon view are stunning

I have traveled widely in RSA and always stay in guest houses. This is the best one that I have ever stayed in. Location, facilities, service, breakfast, ambience are all faultless. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We stayed in the amazing Amanzi Leisure Isle Lodge in Feb 2013 for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon.

The guesthouse is simply stunning and our room ( I think it was number 3) was huge and beautiful, it even had 2 bathrooms and an amazing large balcony perfect for relaxing on and gazing out over the lagoon. The rest of the house was just as beautiful with a lovely outside terrace for breakfast and a great honesty bar.

The breakfast was first class, with plenty to choose from - full English fry up, cereal, fruit, pastries and the most amazing bran muffins! My wife is still searching the Internet for a bran muffin recipe but without success. If someone could email over the recipe we would be very grateful.

The team at Amanzi, Sue, Helen and Margaret were brilliant they really made us feel at home and went out of there way to make sure we had a great time. They gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants and activities. Of particular note was the East Head cafe which does the best Calamari I have tasted and Margaret also recommended a township restaurant - Mawande's. this was a fantastic experience, really friendly, inspiring and also very tasty. If anyone is considering going to the township restaurant, check the taxi prices, as i found Benny (the usual driver) to be very expensive.

We had an amazing time at Amanzi and would recommend this to everyone. We would definitely come back.

Thanks Again
Tim & Vanessa

We have stayed at Amanzi lodge twice and are about to book for a third visit. The house is stunning, all rooms exceptional and the breakfasts are something extra special. The owners are extremely friendly, caring and attentive. The view is magnificent and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Knysna.

Room Tip: all rooms are great - the lagoon facing upstairs rooms are stunning and larger. We have stayed upsta...
